What a great idea. Should make cutting a breeze.

craftybear 10-03-2011 04:44 PM

that is a cool ruler, have fun

lalaland 10-03-2011 04:55 PM

That looks pretty nifty! The quilt/sewing expo is coming to town next week, I'll have to see if it's there to check out!

cmagee84 10-03-2011 05:15 PM

Very interesting! Let us know how you like it.

jaciqltznok 10-03-2011 05:18 PM

I have a friend that does this same thing but she used duct tape and a piece of cardboard! Works the same!

CoyoteQuilts 10-03-2011 05:25 PM

I use Qtools strips on the bottom of mine and it works the same. And you can use it on all of your rulers!

Quilted Dogs 10-03-2011 05:36 PM

sandyo 10-03-2011 05:38 PM

butterjoy 10-03-2011 06:35 PM

What is this ruler called?
Thanks.

A1penny 10-03-2011 06:37 PM

I have one and like it a lot for doing lots of the same size cuts. The only thing that I don't like is having to loosen and tighten the screws all the time.

Can you give me the name of it. I tried to find it at JoAnn's and Connecting Threads but...

A1penny 10-03-2011 06:53 PM

OK....This is what it says on the ruler:
24" Ruler with Adjustable Locking Fabric guide QR-WSCR24

Quilter's Rule www.quiltersrule.com 800-343-8671

It is made by Westalee design in Victoria, Australia

I bought it at the Houston Show.....(I think???) this last year.

Hope this helps!

They do not give you a screw driver with this and the chanel on the screw is quite wide....so you must find a screwdriver that does not destroy these screws!

jrtpetey 10-03-2011 06:54 PM

Cool! Can't wait to hear how you like it.

Great! Glad I could help!

A1penny 10-03-2011 07:49 PM

I just remembered the conversation I had with the salesman at the convention!
I said that the screws were annoying.....he said he knew that.........I walked away and thought about it....then came back to him and said it would be much more practical to use wing nuts that you could tighten and losen with your fingers than carrying around a screwdriver all the time.
He said that would be a great idea! I just never have gone to look for the right kind of very short, flat bottomed bolts and wing nuts!

So funny.....just remembered that!

capucine 10-03-2011 10:28 PM

They now sell a different type of screws for the ruler and it's $10.00 for the set which i thought they could have added it for the same price :) It has a knob on top easy to screw and unscrew with your fingers i will check our local hardware store i am sure i could pick 2 cheaper than $ 10.00. :)

wanda lou 10-03-2011 10:43 PM

Judging from the Aussie accent, I think she is the lady who won a prize on the New Inventors TV show for her innovative
rules.

Here's a link to a company on the Fabshophop that has a very similar product. It also helps allows for resizing the block you're working on without doing all of the math. If I weren't using Marti Michells templates, this is what I would use.

Arleners 10-04-2011 05:23 AM

Looks great!. Happy slicing
