QuiltingGrannie 06-19-2010 04:07 PM

Oh, yes, right sides together!
If we could only remember that BEFORE we sew a bunch of pieces together!

Been there, done that, just the other day ------AGAIN.

shopella 06-19-2010 04:07 PM

I've left a few when I go scrappy.

More than once.

KatFish 06-19-2010 04:10 PM

LOL. Don't feel bad. I did it too! Riped it out, and sewed it again the wrong way.

saf45 06-19-2010 04:15 PM

been there done that,

thismomquilts 06-19-2010 04:22 PM

so been there, done that.

Marge L. 06-19-2010 04:31 PM

I don't have to do it on purpose. It has a mind of it's own and gets its kicks by doing all of those nasty things to me on purpose. No conscience (sp). LOL

Boston1954 06-19-2010 04:32 PM

Yes, I have done the wrong sides. Sis at one time put three pieces together.

wvdek 06-19-2010 04:42 PM

Been there done that.

Gets real confusing making the tube pillowcases where wrong side of bottom piece is against wrong side of middle piece.

I did this 3x in a row and then called it a night before I hurt someone/something! LOL

amma 06-19-2010 04:55 PM

Been there and done that too many times to count LOL

raptureready 06-19-2010 05:09 PM

LOL and yeah, I'm laughing AT you because this is one time that it's not me. LOL LOL LOL But don't feel too badly, we've all been there many times. I was zipping along one day and had 19 out of 20 blocks completed when I realized that half of them were going the wrong way.

Pineapple Princess 06-19-2010 05:21 PM

But it's SOOO much more artistic when you have the seams on the outside! :D

I was putting sashing on a quilt and then sewing the rows together today. If you put the side up that has all the seams you can make sure they go the way you want them -- right? But since I had to piece all the sashing and the sashing was on the bottom -- yeah -- RIGHT SIDES TOGETHER!!

I did the same thing with two sets of strips today. Couldn't believe it when I went to iron them and they were together wrong. So don't feel alone.

craftybear 06-19-2010 06:48 PM

I think we have all done that

lab fairy 06-19-2010 07:14 PM

I hate it when I figure out that I messed up AFTER I pressed. Ripping stitching that has been pressed is irritating and I do it a lot.

PALS65 06-19-2010 07:15 PM

There is a saying if you have never gone off a horse then you aren't a horseback rider. I think we could also say if you have never sewn 2 pieces together wrong then you aren't a quilter.

I just did this today!! I'm best friends with my seam ripper, but wasn't in the mood for it today. I went to the ironing board instead. Tomorrow is a new day and hopefully a better one, lol!!!

littlehud 06-19-2010 08:19 PM

I've been there. Yesterday as a matter of fact.

bronnyb 06-19-2010 08:21 PM

I just KNEW you would all relate!! I had stitched two strips and pressed them, had pinned the next piece on the ironed strip, before I realised that I had sewn both strips (admittedly only about 15" long) & pressed them before I realised they were wrong.
All fixed now. Thanks for laughing WITH me!!!

Irishlady 06-20-2010 04:07 AM

 Well bugger me!! thats where I've been going wrong.
Must remember, right sides together, right sides together.

UNLESS......you're doing one of those raggy quilts that you clip the seams......which I just worked on yesterday.......

sigh.........

:)

insecurity 06-20-2010 04:25 AM

I did a quilt-all wrong sides together-on purpose. Still goofed up and put right sides together. Sometimes you can't win!

no1jan 06-20-2010 04:39 AM

Oh thanks, I am making a denim rag quilt with the wrong sides together!

Now I guess I will have to bring out my seam ripper just in case! :) :) :) LOL

hawghugger 06-20-2010 05:06 AM

Been there, done that, should have a t-shirt. Glad I have a really good seam ripper. lol

aliaslaceygreen 06-20-2010 05:33 AM

Amen.

tryitall 06-20-2010 06:31 AM

Been there MANY times. Feel so stupid!

POosterman 06-20-2010 02:56 PM

The Amish people do this on purpose.

Annz 06-20-2010 03:07 PM

Yea this is a great mantra to be said often.

dljennings 06-20-2010 03:54 PM

been there, done that, bought the t-shirt!

And isn't it OK to use the wrong side of the fabric? Just say that's the way it's supposed to be.

annette1952 06-20-2010 05:33 PM

Me???? No!! Never done that!!

Gal 06-20-2010 05:33 PM

Never seemed to have had this problem until I have had to wear glasses, since then I have done some really stupid things...... I blame the glasses, Lol Grrrrrrrr!

Just recalling my old sewing mistress at High School, her mantra was, as she strode about the classroom slapping her hand with the ruler, PIN TACK SEW PRESS PIN TACK SEW PRESS!!

Gal

GrammaNan 06-20-2010 05:53 PM
