It is partly paper pieced. The first block is about 9 1/2 inches, border 2 and 3 are 2 inch and the outside border 4 1/2". These are all unfinished dimensions, so I think that is 23 inches. It is a published pattern. Fiesta by Lynda Milligan and Nancy Smith. It is sold in quilt shops or online. www.possibilitiesquilt.com
The main pattern is 46X64. I think I will try that next.

It really is beautiful. My very first and most favorite quilt is New York Beauty by Karen Stone. I love the sparkle you added with the lame. What is that like to work with? Thanks for sharing this beautiful quilt!

I didn't have any trouble with either the silks or lame, I used a little lower heat setting of course. I found that by using a very lightweight fusible web on the back they do not stretch or fray. I would recommend it. I'm not making something that is going to be thrown in the washing machine, and I don't know if it would work for that type of quilt.

I use that pen all the time, and love it! If the fabric cannot be ironed, the marks can also be removed with water...it doesn't take much. The price at Joann's is usually around $6.00, but that's a great item to use your 40% coupon on! Connecting threads had the pens on sale earlier in the year. The price was even better, so I stocked up a little. I have also seen them in the Newark Dressmaker Supply catalog, and I believe the Clotilde catalog also had them.

There is something different from the pattern. I sewed all the patches in the same direction, I think I should have reversed some of them. Or I should have sewn all of them before attaching the first row which is wrong. It was the only way I could make the color right. It's not that important for how I'm using this to worry about. But next time I'll try to make it work as intended.
