I have a friend who loaned me a pattern for a New York Beauty because she was having trouble getting it to all fit together. I tried to do it and I think most of it worked. I must have made a mistake on one or two of the squares cut into diamonds on the border, because the points are wrong on a couple of them, but mostly I was satisfied. I used silks and lame fabric for a sparkle. I don't know how to quilt the border. What would you use for marking quilting lines on this, I think chalk will brush right off. I need to really be able to see it!

I use chalk and hair spray to set it, check it on a piece of extra fabric to make sure it doesn't harm the fabric, there are pens that you can buy also, that disappear after a while, just don't get tooo ahead of the game with those... ask me how I know... good luck and can't wait to see some pictures

the quilt is beautiful.

i would play off the art deco design of NYC - google empire state building and the chrysler building amd look at the images to get inspired.

once you know what you'd like to do you could trace the design onto golden threads paper and pin that to the top and quilt thru it.

the paper rips away with great ease.
