Was so disappointed, went to Harbor Freight to buy a pack of blades. One person went in and bought them all.Who ever bought them all could of saved some for others :(
I did find something that had three blades in it,not telling that person might go in and buy all of those to. |
I have been to Harbor Freight 3 times looking for blades. They have been out of them each time. I guess I am just destined to buy my blades at Wal-Mart. Though, I was told by someone in my guild that the blades are too thick to fit in the June Taylor ruler with all the slits in it...Shape and Cut, I think it is called. Maybe I am better off without them, as I use that ruler a lot. :)

I went to my local Harbor Freight and told the clerk I wanted them to special order ten packs of the blades for me, I had the part number with me, and they did. It took a month for them to come in but I did get them.

I had ordered mine online and the wait was about a month. They sent cards saying they were out and if I still wanted to wait. If you do it that way.. do not send the cards back. It will cancel your order

Dina-the Harbor Freight rotary blades do just fine in my June Tailor Shape Cut. You can order the blades from Harbor Freight on the web though.

What good news. Now that I know they do fit in the June Taylor Shape Cut, I will add Harbor Freight back on my list. Sooner or later they have to have them!! Right??

10 packs of 2 blades costs 19.90 + 1.34 shipping for me.
|
this is great info!!! I will be checking our local HF!!!
Thank you!!!! |
On my way to the airport on Thursday I happened to pass HF. Because I had a few extra minutes I turned around and stopped in - it was my first visit. They had 3 packages of blades so I bought them all because of all the messages on this site. l haven't had a chance to use them yet because all my quilting materials are in the room with a sign on the door that says "enter at your own risk". I plan to reorganize the sewing room after everyone leaves and the holidays are over.

I had my daughter & a friend of hers checking Harbor Freight in Watertown, NY. She sent me 10 sets of blades in my Christmas package. Guess I am set for awhile.
|
I learned that Harbor Freight does not order a large amount of the carpet cutter blades. I have gone there just after their delivery, and never saw more than 10 except one time, and that time there were 11 packages. I purchased ALL of them and offered them for sale here. Postage is minimal, but if you want 5 packages it is going to cost more in postage because of the weight.

I ordered 2 packs online a while ago. That's all I could order. The shipping was way more than the cost of the blades. Not sure if it was a good deal or not?

they are called replacement carpet cutter blades...Part number 97642. I bought mine in Indianaplis Indiana this summer. They work fine. The cost has gone up from 1.49 to 1.99 for two replacement blades. but compared to ordering from a notion supply house they are a goood buy.

My brother went to Harbor Frieght and picked up the one package they had for me. I may just order online. But he said he will check everytime he goes . I bought a bunch of blades from jhittle some time ago and still have quite a bit. so its ok if it takes a while to get here.

I bought some from HF and it kept skipping, left a huge mess of my fabric having to cut over it 2-3 times and then having a spot or two missed. Is there a right and wrong way to put them in the cutter? Was very disappointed.

======================== Could you PLEASE share that number with us? Just last night in conversation with a neighbor I discovered I had a Harbor Freight less than 10 miles away, and here I'd been planning to go 40 or more miles away in a few days!! |
We don't have a Harbor Freight up here in Maine so I ordered some of the blades online in AUGUST. I just received them earlier this month. They were backordered all that time.

Question for those who have bought HF blades.
when you go to the store, how many pkgs of blades do you find? Have there been more than 10? I am curious as to how many they are ordering. If they are selling out so quickly one would think they would increase their order. And, those who come to buy blades will likely buy other items. IF they discontinue them, it might be because they cannot get them. It sounded strange to me that they add this carpet cutter to their line of products and offer so few replacement blades. If they knew quilters were buying them, they could increase their inventory and increase their sales. Then again, maybe the supplier is having trouble getting them. We need to talk to management and find out what is going on within the company that holds the blades to some minimum number. Just think what would happen if they got a big box of them with a GROSS of those packagers. WOW! Let find out and spread the word. The word has spread here on QB pretty well. Keep up the good work. I know what you mean I had went to Harbor Freight to get some blades last Tues. and they didn't have any single pkgs. of blades either. They had another thing with blades in it but I didn't need to get that.

------------------------ Something about this reminded me of when I tried to get another marvelous carpet cutter. Months later I went back and they said they no longer carried the Blue Thunder carpet cutter, they had no way of ordering, they simply took what their suppliers furnished them. The first one, Blue Thunder, worked nicely with my 70 plus year old hands in taking up a room full of carpeting that I had hated for so long. It cut the carpet like it was denim. The new one I bought didn't work as well at all on another carpet, gave me blisters. And not one of them had a circular blade !!! Sorry, this was at Home Depot, never heard of Harbor Freight at that time. |
