hi,
to date i have made one small pieced table topper (a kit) and quilted it on my machine following the shapes of the triangles and squares one quarter inch each side of the seam. it turned out ok - mistakes and all - i am learning on my own. i live in the mountains - 70 miles from any fabric or thread!
so for christmas my dauhter bought gift certificate for me at a quilt shop where she lives. i bought a pattern - applique and have had fun making it - instructions - well - not enough for me so i finshed the top - really lots of mistakes but i like it any way. i know how to make the sandwich but don't knoe how to quilt it. i did a machine blanket stitch all around the little cottages and bushes and trees. i used heat and bond. any way here is a picture - i am looking for advice on what kind of quilting - i am new to quilting - need something simple. thank you in advance.

I'd stitch in the ditch around the windows and doors and let it go

thank you grannieannie - i did stitch around the doors and windows - i used clear nylon in the needle - which kept breaking till i lowered the tension.

I would stitch in the ditch around the window frames. I was also thought of doing the diagonal lines on the back ground behind the very cute cottages. If you wanted to make some texture in the applique section you can just do some quilting around certain area that will make it more distinctive.

You did a great job on these. I really like them.

Great job, well done, I would outline the cottages with 1/4" shadowing, stitch in the ditch for the windows. There are so many ways to do this - just one suggestions.

thank you quilt addict and nhweaver . i appreciate your sugestions - i feel like i am addicted to quilting now and don't want to do any other sewing!! haha - hubby just asked me when i was going to finish bedroom and bathroom curtains. sigh - have to get those done - although we live in the middle of the woods - and i could do without curtains. i like the light. but as soon as i whip those curtains out - i am back to learning quilting.
