MerryQuilter 04-20-2011 11:38 AM

No but is really neat.

MargeD 04-20-2011 12:18 PM

A very unusual block, but very pretty. I can see why you just "had to make it". Keep up the good work, the blocks are beautiful. MargeD

Yep thats what it is I have a book here from the library-The Classic American Quilt Collection of Log Cabin its a Rodale Quilt Book It has some real easy instructs and patterns and yardage charts

deanneellen 04-20-2011 02:03 PM

I am adding this to my list of want-to do's!

Shiloh 04-20-2011 02:05 PM

I, too, thought of Kay Wood on PBS in Michigan. She did this years ago. I have her octagon templates. Love the plaids.

MimiLinda 04-20-2011 02:15 PM

I love it, gotta try it! Thanks for sharing. Happy Quilting. :-D

Little Sue 4.9 04-20-2011 02:16 PM

That a beautiful quilt and looks like quite a challenge.I will have to try at least one block to see if I could do this one.

MaggieMeg 04-20-2011 02:37 PM

Wouldn't that make a terrific Christmas Wreath quilt! Well, that is where my mind went, anyway.

CircleSquare 04-20-2011 03:03 PM

I could see it with I-Spy type fabrics in the center of each block!!

kjym 04-20-2011 03:19 PM

I did a oct. pineapple and I got the pattern out of the pineapple book by the gals that had the Great American Quilt Factory in Denver. the problem is they just retired and closed the shop. Wow after some digging I found one of their books Nancy Smith & Lynda Milligan and their books were under Possibilities. I hit the jackpot I found a order form probley it doesn't do any good but the book is number POS-60 Positively Pineapple and it was $21.95.

kjym 04-20-2011 03:23 PM

Opps hit the wrong button. any way their website is www.possibilitiesquilt.com Since they have closed up the shop I don't know if they still have a website????
I sure am going to miss their shop, Everytime I went to Denver that was one of my first stops and I would spend hours in there. I hope that they know they will be missed but I hope they enjoy their retirement.

Pieceful Quilter 04-20-2011 04:02 PM

Never heard of it, love it, will probably need to add it to my list too when I can afford the fabric. Groan...

Cybrarian 04-20-2011 05:05 PM

I sure hope my treasures in heaven Includes a God powered sewing machine because it will take me a good share of Eternity to make all the quilts I have on my "list". This one makes a gajillion and one!

Never seen it before but I like it.

Quilting Fran 04-20-2011 05:29 PM

I love this. It would be like making the octagon table toppers, but starting with a very small center piece. Thanks fr sharing.

Marysewfun 04-20-2011 05:46 PM

That is neat - something to try - - - being a new quilter, my only thought is would it get thick or heavy with all of those seams?

connie d 04-20-2011 06:18 PM

I like it. :):):)

nightquilter 04-20-2011 06:38 PM

I have saw this patternbefor in a book. I thought this would be interesting with black gray and white and use black/white picturesor blackor brown and use gold and cream with the sepitone pictures and make a wall hanging for my brother with his 2 sons. Just for a keepsake. But this pattern is so pretty made in a quilt,

pawebdoctor 04-20-2011 08:18 PM

I like how they avoided the dreaded "Y" seam. Clever!

betlinsmom 04-21-2011 02:28 AM

beautiful and intriguing!!

materialgrl 04-21-2011 04:31 AM

Very stunning love it

Riversong 04-21-2011 05:38 AM

Thats right up my alley!

judi wess 04-22-2011 05:21 AM

There is a similar design I want to do. I found it in a book about Japanese designs. It is a hexagon and the border template is half of the original hexagon. It is so easy and is great for using up scraps, not to mention fun.

skjack 04-22-2011 05:31 AM

thanks for this pattern I just love it... may be one I need to teach in the fall.

kjym 04-22-2011 01:32 PM

I looked on Amazon and found the Positively Pineapple book by Possibilities Nancy smith and Lynda Milligan and there were used copies for $3.00.
This is very easy to sew just the straight lines.
I made mine with dog fabrics and it is very cute. i have all the blocks finished and just have to sew it together.
would you beleive it is already pinned into rows.
Got to get busy and finish it and then I well post picture.

BellaBoo 04-22-2011 01:58 PM

I was looking through my quilt books and found the Positively Pineapple book with the ruler stuck inside it! I thought I had bought it some years ago. I'll buy a pattern/book/ruler and tell myself I have to finish the quilts I'm working on now and then I'll make this. By the time I'm finished the quilts I forgot about the pattern because another have to make pattern comes my way.

monteimom 04-23-2011 10:21 AM

Thanks for posting! Love it!

Marvel 04-25-2011 05:27 PM

Toni, this is so intriguing. I love what you have done with it. I love Log Cabins but have never seen this way of doing it before. Can you tell us a bit more about the pattern?.

Barb44 04-25-2011 06:37 PM

This pattern is in "101 Log Cabin Blocks" by Linda Causee. If you like log cabins you need this book. They are all paper pieced. More patterns than you can imagine. Flowers, hearts, spirals, buildings, pineapples, etc.

auntiehenno 04-30-2011 09:17 AM

Isn't this a hexagon? Octo is 8, Hex is 6. Thanks for sharing. Really like yours.
