Have any of you ever heard of this block? I'm going to try and post a picture of some of the blocks. I saw it this past week and just fell in love. Just what I need, another quilt that I "have" to make. LOL

I love the pattern.

quiltpd 04-19-2011 02:16 PM

I'm with you. Love it. It's a variation of a pineapple block wouldn't you say ?

redturtle 04-19-2011 02:30 PM

thats pretty neat looking

looks a little more complex than a log cabin due to the angles...but i like it

nativetexan 04-19-2011 02:40 PM

Kay Woods has templates for hexagons and octagons and has made blocks on her show with them.

s3wbusy 04-19-2011 02:49 PM

Love this variation on the log cabin

BellaBoo 04-19-2011 03:28 PM

Is there a pattern for this?

dixiebelle162002 04-19-2011 03:38 PM

Where did you find the pattern?

raedar63 04-19-2011 03:40 PM

I don't know where to find the pattern but I sure like it!

There are no angles to sew! It's all straight lines. Don't fear the Octo! Start with a basic Octogon. Continue around completely with one color. I doesn't look like it matters where you start round two at. Continue on until it is the size you want. Looks like a great one for QAYG.

Raggiemom 04-19-2011 04:02 PM

Very cool looking.

darlin121 04-19-2011 04:23 PM

I like this! Different from the usual log cabins, and the octo is my favorite shape. I like "Don't fear the Octo".

mythreesuns 04-19-2011 05:20 PM

Seems like lots of fabric waste in this pattern!!! I do love the looks of it though.

cmagee84 04-19-2011 05:26 PM

Very unique! I love it!

sewnsewer2 04-19-2011 05:40 PM

Pretty! Is it PP? just found the link on page 1 THANK YOU!

Toni-in-Texas 04-19-2011 05:45 PM

Thanks so much for finding the pattern for this block. It is so unusual.
This board and all the members are awesome. Thanks again.

pattypurple 04-19-2011 05:48 PM

I see this made with scraps. One more to add to the ever growing to-do list.

Pat

Thank you!!!! I will look forward to getting to do this. I have several ahead of it though. This is the year I decided all of my grandkids need new quilts, so I am doing them for their bds.lol Well it didn't dawn on me until after I did that, that I have 3 birthdays in May!!!! Needless to say fabric and thread are flyin around here. And I've been ill for 2+ weeks so this is going to be nothing short of a miracle.

quilter68 04-20-2011 03:46 AM

I think it is a type of Log Cabin but your example is delightful.
Thanks for posting. I am printing it out to become part of my to-do list.

SueDor 04-20-2011 03:47 AM

I really like this pattern!

pipsqeak 04-20-2011 04:13 AM

Wow! that is just too cool. Log Cabin is my favorite but I have never seen that one before. Do you know where the pattern can e found?

craftysewing 04-20-2011 05:21 AM

Would love to know what pattern it is? It does look like a variation of a pineapple block. It forms a very cool circular design! Thanks for sharing!

Homespun 04-20-2011 05:21 AM

I like this. On my to do list which is now longer than my arms!!!

quiltinghere 04-20-2011 05:21 AM

That is really NEAT - thanks for posting it.

Everyone's mentioning a "quilting to do list" - I made one a while back and I have not idea where it's at - guess I need to put "make a to do list" on my 'today to do list'. :)

Victoria L 04-20-2011 05:22 AM

I like this :)

emerald46 04-20-2011 05:24 AM

Dang...this has to be on my to do list. Love it! Thanks.

mimee4 04-20-2011 05:25 AM

This is so pretty. Ah, yes, another quilt pattern to add to the list. Wonder how it would look as a scrappy. I may just have to try that.
