I need more room for fabric. This is getting real tight now. The shelves I always thought I could squeeze one more piece of fabric into ... I can't. Is this enough? I am reorganizing my closet now Hoping to cram more in.
This is ridiculous.

a shelf of sheets, some other stuff can go somewhere else...

And, if I remove the makeshift repurposed sideways drawers on top with another shelf from Ikea!

This is ridiculous.

I'd be happy to store any batiks, red or orange fabrics at my place   :P

Claddaughquilting 03-14-2011 06:23 PM

Start sewing!!! Looks like you have enough fabric to last a few years at least!

Treasureit 03-14-2011 06:23 PM

You are just like the rest of us!

littlehud 03-14-2011 06:24 PM

Wow, I'm drooling now. What a great stash.

grugirl 03-14-2011 06:25 PM

I am sewing as fast as I can. I have a plastic bin of tops to get quilted too. I am heading to have a few done next week.

sueisallaboutquilts 03-14-2011 06:27 PM

I'll be over in the morning to shop at your house! Make my coffee strong and with just a bit of cream, please :D

Claddaughquilting 03-14-2011 06:27 PM

Just teasing grugirl!! You haven't seen my "sewing" room...more accurate to call it the fabric storage room...although I too am sewing as fast as I can!!

debp33 03-14-2011 06:29 PM

I just love fabric!

Maia B 03-14-2011 06:29 PM

It's beautifully organized and not out of control. There's bigger and messier, just search the board! Sell or donate what no longer appeals to you, and start sewing up the rest!

CarrieAnne 03-14-2011 06:44 PM

Great stash!!!!!!

Margie 03-14-2011 06:46 PM

This is just a thought...BUT....if you make a few quilts it will make room for more fabric!! lol Also give you time to save a little money for the increase in price of fabric. :)

Grama Lehr 03-14-2011 06:49 PM

Pretty, pretty fabric!!

grugirl 03-14-2011 06:49 PM

Yes, Margie, I agree. I did hit a nice sale wall today that was 50% off. So at $4-5/yard I was getting some of the nicest fabrics and favorite designers that appeal to me. It was a nice amount for the prices I paid.

earthwalker 03-14-2011 06:49 PM

Time for a quilt or two....just teasing..I am quite envious of your amazing collection.

mrspete 03-14-2011 07:41 PM

The fun part of your stash is you can see it! How cool is that?

nativetexan 03-14-2011 07:51 PM

you need to start making fat qtr quilts, like fast.

craftybear 03-14-2011 07:51 PM

ChubbyBunny 03-14-2011 07:53 PM

It's not called ridiculous it's called being proactive and planning for the future. By the way, I am green with envy.

jemma 03-14-2011 09:08 PM

santa is taking up far too much room---i wish iwas able to see my fabric--like you i have no idear what ive got

Pickles 03-14-2011 09:18 PM

Wow, I so wish I had the Fabric like you have, great stash :D

GrannieAnnie 03-14-2011 09:20 PM

I'd suggest that you quit buying fabric----------but I bought fabric twice last week and only got 2 small projects done.

NanaCsews2 03-14-2011 09:33 PM

Reminds me of years ago what my shelves used to look like. I found that when I fold all fabric the same size (I dont use the boards) and stack it up tightly (haha) in even rows, I can always fit in more fabric. I don't keep anything except fabric with fabric, the other stuff tends to take up space that could be reserved for more fabric. Looks more organized, and I know what I have and don't have, and buy around that. Just sayin'...lol

justlooking 03-15-2011 02:29 AM

Good luck, I have the same problem!

olebat 03-15-2011 02:32 AM

Totally relate!!! Even to the point of wedging things in the spaces against the wall. And yes, furniture stacked on furniture. I had thought about those vacuum bags, but think that would only be good for long term storage. I think as often as I plunder through the fabrics the bag idea would be impractical.

hmross 03-15-2011 02:51 AM

I can always use more fabric. My shipping address is .......

carla m 03-15-2011 03:35 AM

wow can i come over and play that sounds better than going to work which is where im headed(((((.
carla

mimom 03-15-2011 03:38 AM

I think its time to make some quilts and use up some of that stash, lol

jeanneb52 03-15-2011 03:46 AM

Welcome to my world....

quiltmaker 03-15-2011 04:02 AM

Buy another shelf/cabinet and you'll be good to go! If you have anything you know you won't ever use then sell/donate it...if you can't decide just remember prices are going up and you have enough for years of quilts. It truly doesn't look that bad. Remember what doesn't appeal to you now may be fabulous to you in a few years. :-D
