Its your quilt do what you like. I say go for it.

Your quilt is just beautiful. I love the french braid but have yet to try one. I also vote for just about anything goes on the back. I think your solution is great - with room for a little give and take.

If you want to put something on the back, I would suggest a design that was offset - so that if it didn't get lined up "exactly so" - it would not be a big deal

Or you could do BIG blocks of the red and black on the back.

Im on board with this one.. big blocks. It wont matter if they dont get centered just so. I think the red on the back is a nice addition to the quilt.

remember the excess will be cut off after the quilting is finished- before the binding- so what ever (design) you decide to do on the back may have part of it cut off- and not necessarily evenly- the (process) of quilting draws the fabric up-just like when doing applique or embroidery- how much is dependant on the amount of quilting- sometimes after the quilting is done the quilt is a (little-off) not square anymore- and you lay it out and square it-then add the binding.

Thank you all for opinions, I think I will use the red, show it again when it gets done.
