Glenda,

I made the 1/2 square triangles the regular way as I was using directional fabric and used a scant 1/4 inch seam no problem with unfinished size of 12-1/2 in. Not sure about the method shown for 1/2 square triangles.

Hope this helps

I've got a question. Has everyones baltic puzzle block measured 12 1/2"? Mine is closer to 12' and just barely that. Any suggestions? Glenda

Here are my 2 Feb. blocks and 1 of the March blocks. Haven't made the second March block, yet.

The color didn't turn out too great in the pictures, but in person, they look great! :)

I had to do the baltic puzzle block twice, for exactly that reason: my first one came out at barely 12 inches, and I was peeved. So I revisited the scant 1/4" instructions, and made sure I used those on that puzzle block. I don't know about anyone else, but I really had to stick to scant 1/4" seams everywhere in order to come out with a 12 1/2 inch block. In fact, I ended up shaving off just a touch to make it 12 1/2" square that second time around. I've been very careful with the next blocks. With March, it called for 6 1/2" squares, and I used 7" squares. So I'm thinking that a true professional could make it work with the material sized the way they have it, but I need to give myself a little breathing room, because my March block came out needing very little squaring up!

I need to get busy and "catch up". I was doing this with a friend as a way to teach her how to piece. But we were getting behind because she could never get together like we had planned. She has now dropped out of it and told me to just go ahead and move on with the blocks, so I need to go back and catch up.

I ave the first 3 months done. Now to do the next 3. Some blocks I really like and others not so much. When they are all put together I hope it looks fine. Haven't done a course with a fee - but if they are like this free one they will be good.

In the online Qs one person pointed out that in at least one of the blocks the measurements on the video are wrong but the written instructions are correct. I'm not sure which one they were referring to but the Q's are still there. I was watching the June block video when I read it.
