hobo2000 10-24-2010 04:03 PM

My grandmothers Singer 66 red head and my FW.

scowlkat 10-24-2010 05:07 PM

Babylock Ellisimo. Just got it this summer and am so impressed and in love with this machine! Have been a Janome fan for years but couldn't get past all the wonderful features on this machine that the comparable Janome couldn't touch! (Think Janomes are built much sturdier but they really dropped the ball in keeping up with the competition on embroidery machines!)

Sadiemae 10-24-2010 05:07 PM

I piece mostly on my Brother 1500S and quilt on a Fusion. Fancy stitches I use a Pfaff 7570 because it has so many stitches.

piecing on 1 of 3 Singer treadles and for FMQ a Sapphire 875.

Sew Lovins 10-24-2010 05:49 PM

Is that in a foot treadle? How cool...do you get a workout or is it low impact?

I love my Husqvarna Viking 870. I want my grandmother's RedEye treadle. Maybe someday soon my brother will bring it home from Fl.

butterflyquilter 10-24-2010 06:37 PM

I did use a janome for piecing but it quit tonight. My husband has informed me that a sewing machine is a luxury so I am not going to be quilting for awhile.

TexasSunshine 10-24-2010 06:48 PM

I have a Pfaff Creative 1471 that I bought new in 1986 and would not part with it for the world, a real workhorse. Also have a Brother sewing and embrodiery machine that intimidates me, bought it used so no lessons, haven't mastered it yet.

daisey 10-24-2010 07:00 PM

Too many machines to list for piecing, HQ 18 for quilting

Did you inform him that eating is a luxury and he won't be getting that for a while?

I love my new Janome Horizon 7700. I use it for piecing and free motion quilting. I have also put it on my quilting frame for a couple of quilts and it's quite the performer!
I still use my Janome QC6260 for workhorse jobs (denim) and to take to classes.

IrishNY 10-24-2010 07:16 PM

I love my Bernina 1260 when home and my FW when traveling.

greensleeves 10-24-2010 07:16 PM

Pfaff I purchased new in 1991, wish I had another just like it. Plus a Janome ,purchased about 1995,used mostly for blanket stitching.

I was thinking more along the lines of clean underwear being a luxury too.

hazeljane 10-24-2010 07:20 PM

My Juki 98Q for both. I'm plotting how to get a long arm, but in the meantime, I love love love my Juki.

GrandmaJeanne 10-24-2010 07:20 PM

I love my Janome 6500P.

jackkip 10-24-2010 07:26 PM

I piece on my bernina 630 and just recently acquired FW. I FMQ on my HQ16-sit down version. Love all of my machines. Can't imagine quilting without them. :-)

butterflyquilter 10-24-2010 07:55 PM

Food is the one thing he never gripes about spending money on. He thinks making quilts is a waste of time.

I love the underwear one! I'm thinking some of his clothes might need to be mended!

Not to mention sex.

MaryStoaks 10-24-2010 09:17 PM

I piece on a 1940 featherweight and quilt ona Tin Lizzie 18.

GailG 10-25-2010 05:03 AM

My dream machine??? Well -- I piece on the Janome and I quilt on the heavy duty school New HOme. Actually my true DREAM machine to use is a vintage 1896 treadle Singer that was given to me and never restored.

My kind of woman. I want to be just like her when I grow up..

aneternalpoet 10-25-2010 05:54 AM

one that works is my dream machine.. I am using one thats not always dependable, its old.. but if it keeps sewing, its my dream machine right now, since I can't buy a new one .. I am blessed to have this one, for sure!!

I would tell him so is sex, and he isn't getting any until I get a new sewing machine. And I would probably include hot meals too. Dinner from now on is a cold can of beans. With the can opener to open it himself. And he can do his own darned laundry. Having a personal laundress is a luxury too.

BATIKQLTR 10-25-2010 06:39 AM

Butterfly quilter: I let my DH know that I thought tools were a luxury. That was a very mean thing to say to you!

My DH said he didn't think I needed 3 sewing machines because I can only use one at a time. Well, I told him I thought a truck, a car and a sandbuggy was a waste also, because he could only drive one at a time. He now doesn't even look into my sewing room.

Oh yea, I use my 1966 Kenmore for most everything and I have a serger and a little travel Kenmore.

Candace 10-25-2010 06:47 AM

It's all about perspective, isn't it? :>

Sew Lovins 10-25-2010 08:16 AM

Hmmm now I am very interested in a FW. Seems like everyone likes theirs.

**and love how the topic of sex and food deprivation enters into the conversation!! Don't mess with a ladies machine, thats for sure!

gale 10-25-2010 11:27 AM

I've been wanting a featherweight for a while now but mainly because everyone else loves them so much. I'm sure I would too.

cheryl222 10-25-2010 11:31 AM

Juki 98 Q for piecing, Bailey !7" for quilting.

Jamiestitcher62 10-25-2010 11:36 AM

I use my Janome Horizon 7700 for most everything. I have the 11000SE but I only use that for embroidery.

A well oiled and properly adjusted treadle isn't hard to use at all. You can see pictures of 3 of my people powered sewing machines, no electric motor. I'm the engine. I have
been using treadle machines since 2007.

I have one machine and it is my Bernina 230PE that my DH bought me when my other machine died in August. It's not my "dream machine" but it is better than the machine I had. If it hadn't been for some money DH received when his father passed away that we only used for "special" purchases, I would not have the Bernina. I would however have gotten a cheaper machine from Walmart though. And after I was in DH barn this weekend and noticed he had 5 routers, I told him if I ever buy another sewing machine I didn't want to hear a word. He tried to tell me they do different things and I told him that sewing machines do different things too.

Butterfly Quilter: I like the underwear thing that was suggested. But I also like that his clothes might need to be mended to. Maybe you could take up hand quilting and make him a quilt out of his clothes one piece at a time. When he says...honey, have you seen my ____, you can say no sure haven't and just snicker to yourself. hehehe

quilter41 10-25-2010 06:00 PM

I use a Viking 950 for piecing & embroidery and a Baby Lock Quilters Pro for quilting. Also have a featherweight, Pfaff 6270, Viking 545, and a serger. Sewing machine poor

Sew Lovins 10-25-2010 06:15 PM

Definitely will be on he lookout for one of these in the future...someone was selling one not far from here but it was in horrible condition...I'd love to find a better cared for one...Thanks for the pix
