Yup! Got that one too. Also bought at Wests! Oooh the memories!

Yup, I'm from the poly/cotton days too. So glad those days are over and we have all the lovely cottons to choose from. I used to buy from So Fro fabrics and Ben Franklin, the fabric sufficed, but today's cotton so much better! :)

I volunteer at a BIG charity group here in Phoenix. We get alot of fabric donations when ladies pass away, downsize, etc. We have had some come in that is only 36 inches wide. Some has the date on it and in the 80's.
We had hundreds of yards of green. Either people don't use that color as much or they just bought too much. We do not get much yellow which is one of my favorite colors for kids quilts. |
Mine is pink and blue....................

Nobody mentioned W.T.Grant stores. My first job at in 1956 was in the fabric department, using that little snip & rip machine. That began my love for fabric. I still have some with that little cardboard square with the store name on it.

I also had some of that fabric--I think mine was red. I used to use the old calico fabrics a lot, then my tastes changed and I gave a lot of it away. Most of my give aways were to local ladies who were just beginning to quilt. One lady even had her B-I-L pick up the fabric because she was afraid I would give it away to someone else (I wouldn't). One of my favorite stores was Franks. I was sorry to see them go. I didn't get fabric there but notions were plentiful. One of my favorites for fabric was Minnesota Fabrics. Are they still around? Not in my neck of the woods anymore. This was a fun trip back to the "good old days". Some of the fabric was unbelievable--I think I've become a fabric snob. lol

Oh, deja vu! I did not quilt back in the 1970's and '80's, but Mama did. I remember she used to get some remnants at Woolco. Now all her quilts live with me. And I inherited her small stash, after they moved to an apartment she never quilted again. I know I need to use her stash, but it's hard to bring myself to do it.

Yup, I remember that one. Remember T G and Y and Ben Franklin too. Good old stores that were killed off by Walmart's arrival....

I think I may have some of this fabric, in more than one color. I remember when even Jordan Marsh (now Macy's) sold fabric, then one by one the stores stopped carrying fabrics, even the local Wal-Mart stopped stocking fabrics; so now, when I can, I shop JoAnn's, especially when they have sales. My SIL told me that if you or your DH was in the military, if they show their ID (My DH has his VA card) they can get 15% off their total order at any time. I haven't tested this yet, but hope to in the future.

McCrory's was another source of fabric back when.
