When I went to bed lastnight I made it my intention to get up, not even turn on my 'puter an sew.
Here it is 15 minutes after noon and I'm still on the board!!
Is there a "Quilting Board" anonymous?? I need it!

Sorry David, we can't help you, we need help ourselves. Have fun today.

Maggiesmom 01-10-2011 09:28 AM

Same here.

raptureready 01-10-2011 09:36 AM

Set a timer. When it goes off, shut off the computer and start sewing. I've heard that with some effort and practice that it will work however I haven't tried it yet. LOL

cjomomma 01-10-2011 09:36 AM

I spent the morning sewing or I should say sew a strip then read a comment on the QB then sew a strip then read back and forth. I actually got more sewing done then expected.

lol -- i notice that i spend time on here in spurts, and i sew in marathons.

if i know i have more than an hour - i'll walk to the back of the apt and sew -- half an hour or less, it's to the front of the apt to check the boards, facebook, and assorted blogs.

too bad today is full of errands -- by the time i'm done running and have a few hours to sew i'll be too tired to think!

I know what you mean. I went to breakfast with a friend, then on to Joann's and Tuesday Morning. Now back home and still haven't gotten to the basement to work on the silk quilt. I could have had it done by now if I wasn't on here. But then again, I would never have started the silk quilt if it hadn't been for the Quilting Board. So you just have to take a little bad to go with the good.

hperttula123 01-10-2011 10:13 AM

I've got the same problem so I can't help you....lol. I wasn't up for 5 minutes and I was on the board. It's very addicting!!!

ckcowl 01-10-2011 10:20 AM

you really need to learn to set a timer:thumbup:

Airwick156 01-10-2011 10:21 AM

LOL I now have my laptop sitting directly next to my sewing machine...and why? So that I can sew and read comments at the same time. I am getting to be an expert at it. Do I get much sewing done? No. But by the end of January, I WILL have my wedding present quilt done. That is if I can STOP READING posts. LOL

Sadiemae 01-10-2011 10:29 AM

David, it is called the POWER button. lol

amma 01-10-2011 11:07 AM

ROFLMBO join the quiltingboard club :D:D:D

maryel 01-10-2011 11:07 AM

I never spent so much time in my life on the computer till I joined this board, so I can't help you!!!

Yarn or Fabric 01-10-2011 11:15 AM

I know how you feel ... there are days that I just can't seem to pull myself away from the computer. I just have to force myself to get up and move....

I have an excuse right now though - lunch is in the oven :D

plainpat 01-10-2011 11:21 AM

I'll take number 5 on your list :D :D

klgreene 01-10-2011 11:23 AM

No help here either, I'm still on it, and I have to leave my house in 20 min.

QazyQltr 01-10-2011 11:24 AM

I've tried going cold turkey but it doesn't work :-(

IrishNY 01-10-2011 05:58 PM

One time I suggested we ask the admin to disable the board for just one day - imagine what we could collectively accomplish without the temptation of the computer.

You would have thought I suggested we all burn our stashes as a sacrifice to the quilting gods by the reaction I got.

patchsamkim 01-10-2011 06:01 PM

I did take some time off the computer last week...spent at least an hour each night in my sewing room instead of at the computer......and I lost my "regular here status"...somehow have to find a "happy medium"...I think it is also called balance...I do want to get things done...but hate missing some of my computer time...sure wish I had time to get on the computer while at work!|

But look how much fun you're having and all the new friends you've made...seems worth it to me! Have you finished your Patriots quilt yet?

quilterj 01-11-2011 03:18 AM

Me too. I find that even when I sew I say that I am going to just be a minute and then I am on here for longer than that.

cazann 01-11-2011 03:29 AM

I know exactly what you mean, i have done the 'chores' though, but something keeps me here reading, and learning, well that's my excuse. perhaps tomorrow,

Leezer 01-11-2011 04:24 AM

I friend of mine said since we can eat while we sew, you could get alot more done if we could just figure out how NOT to sleep. That would be in a perfect world, I would have plenty of time then for my 2 favorite things.....quilting and eating!

pheasantduster 01-11-2011 08:09 AM

not only can I "not" read all the threads I keep printing new quilt patterns for the future - I'll have to set a record and live to be 110 yrs - with brain and fingers still in good shape!!

trolleystation 01-11-2011 10:36 AM

Me too and three. I need an intervention.

penski 01-11-2011 11:06 AM

well david i did the same thing i said i was going to check my mail then go up and sew because it is snowing big time here and it would be a nice day to quilt but here i am a hour later still sitting at the computer!!!

qnana 01-11-2011 11:17 AM

Well, it helps to know I am not the only one! This board immediately became a happy entre' into a world of like-minded folks that are available round-the-clock. I am about to write down a schedule for myself and get a portable timer before it gets totally out of hand! (-:

All times are GMT -8. The time now is 10:40 PM.
