Mad about plaid

Ditto! By the way, a wonderful job on a beautiful quilt. Some little boy (and his parents) will love it. Be sure to post pictures when it's done.

Cute! peace |
I like the plaid. But then I (because I like the look) would do corner stones in blue, red, green, and yellow. But I know whatever you do will look great. Have fun because it looks like a fun quilt. :D
The other prints would make a great backing, binding, and matching pillow cases. |
Plaid is my vote.

Super blocks & they all have black (tires, etc). I'd have to go with the black and white or yellow dashes down the center. This will add visual interest, & later, as he is older, reality-check & attention to detail to notice road "signs". Language is not just "alphabetic" reading, but other indicators of information(paw prints when hunting, street signs, map designations, etc.) This teaches him to observe his environment, and interpret possible information in short-hand form. This takes the quilt from cute to a learning tool. IMHO.

I don't know a thing about applique and the color of thread to use. I have to learn about that. Maybe a soft blue gray?????? |
Plaid! or maybe dark solid blue for sashing and plaid for border.
|
I vote for the plaid!

I'd use the plaid cut on the bias for the sashing and binding and then use the other two for borders. You could also use the lt. blue small print for cornerstones between the sashing if you like cornerstones, or a solid gold. I would use gray thread, the color of the inside of the wheels for appliqueing.
I love all those trucks! Your colors and the fabrics are perfect! Is this a pattern I could buy somewhere? What is the name of the fabric line? I would love to make this for my 3 yr old GS. |

Plaid on the bias. Otherwise it will drive you crazy making sure it's cut and sewn straight. Nice pattern...

plaid on the bias

I like the plaid and yes cut carefully or cut on the bias. Dark blue a good fabric print but it would detract from your great blocks.
|
Don't know if you will see this but I would match the color that you are sewing around for your applique. I do machine applique all the time and that is what I do I think it looks great. Just my thoughts on it. Also one more vote for the plaid.
|
I like the one in the middle with the small cars so it does not take away from the applique.
|
Great quilt!! Love the plaid for sashing and would use matching thread for each color in the trucks. Can't wait to see it finished :-D
|
Plaid or the black with white line down center sounds good too that SandyL suggested.
|
How cute! what is the pattern (or source for pattern) ? I would love to buy it ----
I like all your sashing choices but agree - would be careful with plaid. I know me - I would get obsessive trying to make the plaids line up across the quilt and down the quilt so it wouldn't be worth it to me . I am trying to conquer this misplaced perfectionism! |
the plaid or the light blue would be my choice
|
Plaid on the bias

Love that plaid!!!!

Like the plaid.

I like the plaid on the bias as well.

I agreen on the plaid and I love this quilt, super job. It's fun.
|
I love your quilt. Can't wait to see it finished however you choose.

Stitch in white and
use the Plaid. Cut it any whichway, and it will be cute. Looks like a quilt I made for my grandson. J J |

I think narrow plaid, and wide cars would be very cute! two borders.
|
OOps just realized I didn't answer the question. I'd use the plaid for the sashing, then do borders like I mentioned. lol.

I'm going out on the limb and say I like the plaid for the sashing, and use the dark blue print for the border. It has the same forms on it to tie it with the blocks, the plaid keeps the colors going. Great quilt!:)

Plaid hands down!
