opinions needed, Irish Chain
2 Attachment(s)
I have the main blocks done, but now I'm trying to figure out how to finish the edge. In #1, the chain comes to a point, then the border. In #2, the border is the point of the chain. Remember this is just pinned to a design wall, nothing is sewn together. Thanks for looking.

I like #1 best. Looks great!
I would have a thin white strip before the 1st blue border. Are you going to miter the last border?
I like #1 the best; the design looks more "complete" instead of kind of cut off.

#1!
 |
I like #1. Would be interesting to experiment with the slender white border in several different positions, just to see what it looks like. Love you fabric choices. I have a blue Irish chain among my UFOs. Hope to complete it this year.
#1 - and would love to see what it would look like with the white strip, mitered corners would be a beautiful finish. You are going to have one beautiful quilt!!!
I like Number 1 and I think maybe a thin white border around the main part of the quilt then add the dark blue border.
I also like #1 the best. Really nice quilt
I'm with everyone else #1 with a thin white border before other borders and the last border (flowered one) to be mitered! Gorgeous quilt!
Oh how I love the looks of your quilt!
ITA with the others ... #1, so the point is there ... otherwise, it looks like it's chopped off. I also might consider leaving the chain in the bottom left corner out where it goes past the angle to the right. Again, keeping it closed and complete. And it would float. I may not be explaining it right, so take a look at the one I did, and you'll get a better word picture of what I am meaning! http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...h-t213094.html I'd also play with the white border ... possibly the same width as all your squares are in your Irish Chain, definitely no wider IMHO (and maybe considerably less). And a huge ITA .... definitely mitre the corners with that beautiful border print. |
I like #1 best. Looks great!
I like #1 but they are both wonderful.
I agree - #1 with a thin white border so the blocks float, then miter the edges of the border fabric. Nice work!
I really like #1 and with your border fabric mitered corners would be perfect. Beautiful Irish chain.
I like number 1 the best I really like your colors and design
Number one would be my choice. It just looks more finished. Love your quilt and color choices.
I agree with no. 1, also with the thin white border and the mitered corners on the floral print. Beautiful job!
Either way works. That's the joy of Irish Chains.

I like 1 and the way the chains feed into the border and incorporate the colors. Just beautiful.
I like the 1st one. Something in me likes things 'finished'. On #1 the dark chain completes its diamond.
I agree.... number 1... just looks "complete"
I like No. 1 best. It looks more complete.
Yep, #1 looks great. Love the dark blue border enclosing the quilt.
No1 and can you mitre th corner?
#1 gets my vote but I would miter the corners of the floral border. Just my opinion
What if you were to put a block of the blue and white fabric on the bottom of the point and then add borders? I can't visualize it, but maybe because the eye is drawn to the edges, that extra block might just be the final "point" and then it would all look wonderful and balanced and then borders.
have you thought of a mitered corner? Might be interesting. It's going to be a nice quilt hope you post it when finished.

I like the first one!
I like #1 best as well. It looks more finished and pulls the entire design together.
Yep. # 1 and be sure to miter your corners.
So many votes already, but... I like the first one with the added white border. But my thought is to make it narrow - such as 1 or 1 1/2 inch.
sorry, no help here....my eyes keep bouncing from the top one to the bottom one and I can't decide.....but I r e a l l y like your fabrics!!!! Very pretty!!
I prefer #1 the best, this is going to be beautiful.
Vote # 1 with mitered corners.
