I prefer the sashing as it makes the blocks look less ordinary. Nice colour choices.

elm 06-18-2012 04:02 AM

Love the blocks. I think the sashing really shows them off.

pollyjvan9 06-18-2012 04:03 AM

I vote for the sashing. Beautiful blocks.

patchsamkim 06-18-2012 04:04 AM

I vote for no sashing...it is going to be beautiful quilt!

psquared52 06-18-2012 04:07 AM

Think I prefer it without the sashing. If you want to use sashing, try making it larger. I think the black is quite similar in size to the colors in the blocks. Maybe it would be more dramatic if the black were larger. I often struggle at this stage of a quilt...and end up auditioning colors and sizes until I find the perfect one. Good luck! Please post when you're finished!

mummadee 06-18-2012 04:19 AM

I vote for sashing, it seems to set the blocks off better.

Vat 06-18-2012 04:29 AM

Your really to need the sashing, sets off the blocks. Love your Bakits, was it a kit?

sandyl 06-18-2012 04:36 AM

My vote is with!

Debbie C 06-18-2012 04:39 AM

I'm leaning toward the one with no sashing - it's a very interesting pattern and love your color choices

brushandthimble 06-18-2012 04:41 AM

Oh absolutely with the sashing, it just pops!!!

doowopddbop 06-18-2012 04:43 AM

Whoa, gorgeous!! I like the definition you get with the sashing!

Delta 06-18-2012 04:51 AM

either way but I really like the no sashing. really cool job.

katesnanna 06-18-2012 05:03 AM

Definitely sashing. Makes the blocks pop.

Patquiltz 06-18-2012 05:04 AM

I like it with the sashing but I think it needs to be a bit wider, just to give it a little more definition.

cjaneky 06-18-2012 05:06 AM

with sashing...makes the colors pop

Mariah 06-18-2012 05:07 AM

I love the blocks! I would say this; if you have lots of time, use the sashing. If not, just leave it like it is. I like it as it is really well.
Would you share with us/me how you cut the blocks in the shapes they are in?
Mariah.

Gatormom3 06-18-2012 05:08 AM

Both are gorgeous but I like the sashing best, I think.

glorcour 06-18-2012 05:22 AM

Both work but I like the way the blocks blend without the sashing - so without gets my vote

DebbieG 06-18-2012 05:33 AM

Like it best with the sashing...shows it off better!

pattym47 06-18-2012 05:48 AM

Beautiful! I like the definition of the sashing.

piepatch 06-18-2012 05:57 AM

I instantly felt I liked it with the sashing, but after looking at it for a few minutes, I like it better without the sashing. I think it will be a more interesting and unique quilt without the sashing.

dd55 06-18-2012 06:05 AM

like it without sashing. beautiful colors.

KathyM 06-18-2012 06:08 AM

The sashing just gives it something more to the blocks.

I agree . I like the sashing.

gramarraine 06-18-2012 06:24 AM

I like it with the sashing.

FroggyinTexas 06-18-2012 06:48 AM

I usually like sashing best, but in this case quilt becomes more interesting without sashing. Flip a coin and then be satisfied with the result. froggyintexas

(Looks like you are going to get about 50-50 in the opinions - not much help, are we?!

If it was my quilt, I would use one of those scrappy colors as sashing and then a border of all black. This should pop your quilt which is going to be beautiful.

pumpkinpatchquilter 06-18-2012 06:58 AM

Gorgeous - I think this is just a personal taste thing. What look are you going for? I think I like the sashing...but it would be just as interesting without it.

justflyingin 06-18-2012 07:07 AM

I also like it with the sashing, but could get used to it without the sashing...either way it is pretty. The sashing kind of gives you breathing room as you look it, and without it, it is just kind of breathtaking...I hope you understand what I mean. The colors are gorgeous and either way would be really pretty!

laynak 06-18-2012 07:10 AM

That must have been fun to paper piece! I like the sashing as it's more dramatic in bringing out the details.

Grace MooreLinker 06-18-2012 07:16 AM

The shasing would be a must if it was one that I was working on. highlights the colors and pattern

nellybelle 06-18-2012 07:25 AM

I like it with the sashing --defines the size of each block.

bobquilt3 06-18-2012 07:45 AM

Both are lovely but I think without sashing it could be a little busy. The black makes it pop

aeble 06-18-2012 07:59 AM

I think either way it will look great. If it were mine though, I'd skip the sashing. I like the woven look when there is no sashing.

feffertim 06-18-2012 08:09 AM

I just can't decide either.

psthreads 06-18-2012 08:20 AM

I like it with out the sashing.

Woman 06-18-2012 08:39 AM

Beautiful blocks, I too like the sashing.

bibi 06-18-2012 09:38 AM

Both ways are gorgeous but I personally like your sashing.

Jan T 06-18-2012 10:37 AM

Those blocks are magnificent. I really think that the narrow sashing on the first picture helps to define the pattern in the blocks. Without the sashing, they get sort of muddled up together. I wouln't use a sashing wider than about 1 inch finished though. GOOD JOB!

I agree the eye needs a spot to rest with the busy blocks but way cool!
