I have so many Yes they are great . I have new ones still in the box when the old ones go bad. The newest is the small clip that opens like a cell phone. They have them at JoAnns. I did not like the long one that was battery powered as it was top heavy and tipped over easily. But I carry the small clip one on my bus it is great. I have 3 floor models that are around the house in different locations. I carry the clam shell one in my sewing tote bag with the standard quilting supplies. It goes with me every class or retreat. I will continue to buy them as they improve. My husband loved my cell phone type I had to buy him one.

I have an older tabletop model and do like it

BettyGee 10-03-2011 03:09 PM

I have four plus a table top version that I use for bead weaving. They are worth every cent. I'd be lost without them.

Rose Bagwell 10-03-2011 03:49 PM

I have the small for my cutting table and I love it.

dljennings 10-03-2011 03:52 PM

i have the knock off version frm herrshners... works great & 49.99 + shipping beats the heck out of what they want for an ottlite... i was looing @ lowes for bulbs for something else... ottlite bulb 6.95 for single one.. lowes brand "natural daylite bulb" 4 for$11.95.. i hate to pay for a brand name.

rosiewell 10-03-2011 04:37 PM

I have 3 2 floor lamps and 1 portable, love them they are bright but they don't fry your brain

If someone wants my Ottlite, they will have to pry it from my cold, dead fingers.

For me, it is totally worth it. Particularly now that the fall equinox has gone and there is more dark than light in the day.

I have been using them for years. I love them. I always use a coupon when I buy replacement parts. As my eyes get older I appreciate Ott lights more and more.

laurelkal 10-03-2011 06:02 PM

Ott lights are great! But check around for sales. I got one floor lamp style from Joann's through their Black Friday online sales. It was dirt cheap. My husband just picked up another floor lamp ott on clearance at Lowe's. Michael's was my table lamp style with a 40% off coupon.

sharin'Sharon 10-03-2011 06:08 PM

There may be other choices out there, but I won't trade my table Ottlite for anything. I take it with me to quilt club when we have sewing nite and use it for paperwork. My eyes never hurt or burn after many hours like most other lites do. My husband actually gave it to me for Christmas about eight years ago and never have had to change the bulb yet.

mama4dylan 10-03-2011 06:35 PM

I have a Verilux lamp which I got thru Amazon. It's the same as Ottlite but I think it's much less expensive.

I have 3 ott lites and wouldn't be without them. One of the best investments I've made.

Good Luck

Suzy

I agree wholeheartedly. I have had one for years; used for beading because it shows the true color of the beads, and now I also use it for machine embroidery and fabric matching. They are great and well worth the money. I bought mine on sale at JoAnn's.

Ottlites are on sale at Joanns--50% off!!

fayzer 10-04-2011 06:24 AM

Check Big Lots and Tuesday Morning. Sometimes they have Ottlites or generics at great prices. I love the one I got a Big Lots years ago. It came with 2 bulbs. I am still using the original bulb.

lol This is me too except I have one more attached to my cutting table :) I have used them so long that I need them now to work without a headache!

mama-j78 10-04-2011 12:05 PM

I have two Ott lights. One is a floor lamp and the other sits on my sewing machine. I love them both.

JUNEC 10-04-2011 12:08 PM

I love the 2 I have and bought one for my FIL - he has macular degeneration - the kught allows him to read the news paper

She In PA 10-04-2011 01:40 PM

They are on sale online at Jo Ann fabrics.

I have a tabletop one with a weighted base. It also comes with a clamp to use instead of the weighted base. I've had it for over 10 yrs. and I'm still on the first light bulb! It's on just about everyday and I love the bright light it gives me in order to sew, cut or design and draw anything. I like the fact I can adjust it wherever I need it, even turn it up vertically to shine on my design wall behind my table. It's very much worth the money I paid for it.

sewgarden 10-04-2011 07:02 PM

I have the small one and I really like it for handwork but I have a floorstanding one that wont work and it seems they aren't fixable. It was expensive and hadn't had a lot of use. I looked at forums to get info about getting it fixed and it seems a lot of people have problems with them.

Dee 10-04-2011 08:05 PM

Love mine. I couldn't work without floor or table one.

Geri B 10-05-2011 05:04 AM

I found my one floor ott light at Office Max on clearance. It is good, but I think now one can buy light bulbs that are equivelant in "light value" nowadays at the local big box store....

fireworkslover 10-05-2011 05:35 AM

I do have a floor lamp as well, but that light doesn't seem to be as bright as my table lamp. I bought a screw in bulb to go in a reg. lamp over my couch, thinking it would be great for reading with, but it wasn't bright enough. I returned it.

The lamp I use in the lounge room fell apart where the first section from the light bulb goes up and down. It cannot be repaired so I have to go and look for another one. But that won't be until my Christmas money comes in at the beginning of December. I will look for a better quality one. Where is the best place for them here in Australia please?

ging10ging 10-09-2011 05:33 PM

I love my Ott light it's nice and bright I used it first for cross stitch and now I have a couple started and just can't get back in the mood to do. Sue

YolandaW 10-09-2011 05:57 PM

I don't care for them at all and I have 3. Also remember it IS the bulb and not the lamp that is doing the lighting. My most expensive one is sitting outside headed to my dad's garage for whatever he wants to use it for. IMHO save your money.

GJoyce 10-14-2011 11:26 AM

I'm glad you asked this question. I have wondered if it was worth the high $$ myself. I see a lot of you like it. Good to hear.
Thanks

Ritas Relics 10-16-2011 03:04 PM

I have had one a long time , love it and wish I had more.
