It's a pajama day for me today. DH is out of town, DD2 won't be home tonight because she is staying with a friend. I was able to sleep in this morning and still haven't gotten out of my pajamas. Two blissful days of quilting for me and I don't have to get dressed, cook any meals, or do the laundry or dishes! Do any of you ever take pajama days when the opportunity arises? I'm working on the quilted jacket posted in the tutorial section. You'll find it here:

Here is my project in the beginning stages.

I LOVE pajama days (laughter). I do this at least once a month for my health and well being. Good for you and congratulations on your pajama day; you are taking good care of you!!

You are working with some beautiful fabrics. Beautiful.

My hubby is home every evening. So 5 or 6 days a week I do breakfast, pack his lunch, fix my own lunch later, fix supper at night. No vacation from cooking!

I've got a slew of what most of you would call "house dresses" Night gowns if you want to call them that or very simple dresses if you'd like to call them that----------so I don't get "dressed" unless i'm going out.

Pajama day or sweat pants day as my girls like to call it, is my favorite day!! Money can't buy that kind of therapy!! Have the Best Time!!

CarrieAnne 03-23-2011 01:12 PM

I love pajama days!

Up North 03-23-2011 01:15 PM

I am still in my jammmies and to heck with getting dressed at this time of day if hubby doesn't like it he can ignore me!!

sassy granny 03-23-2011 01:16 PM

I love those batiks!!

Maia B 03-23-2011 01:18 PM

Yay! Enjoy and create!

SueDor 03-23-2011 01:23 PM

Nope, I feel better that I am dressed.

hperttula123 03-23-2011 01:26 PM

My DH can't stand it if I'm not dressed by 7AM. He says it makes me look lazy even though I am not, in reality, lazy at all. I just think it's wonderful when I can have a day with no responsibilities to anyone or anything. It doesn't happen often.

Thank you! This is the very first time I have worked with Batiks. Looking at them on a bolt has never done much for me so I've never tried them before. Now that I have started this project and am seeing them all together in a project, well, let's just say that my horizons are expanding. LOL!

susanwilley 03-23-2011 02:17 PM

I love pajama days! Wish I had more of them.

sharoney 03-23-2011 02:21 PM

I love jammie days! I do it when DH is out of town.

cjomomma 03-23-2011 02:23 PM

I do pj days but I still have to cook. I do it more in the winter tho.

Shelbie 03-23-2011 04:46 PM

I can only have pj days if hubby is away on business. He seems to think that it is some great sin to be downstairs not dressed and has always fussed that I hang out clothes early (before 8 o'clock) in my pink housecoat. The cows really don't care. High school girls a couple of years ago were wearing pj pants to school and DD had to sneak out without her father catching a glimpse of her. A day of sewing without anyone wanting anything is a day of pure bliss to me. Enjoy!

frauhahn 03-23-2011 05:20 PM

I love pajama days in the winter when I can where my flannels all day-if I don't have to leave the house, I have pajama weeks!

Wonderful start to your quilt... Enjoy your relaxing, laid-back quilting days while your hubby is out of town.

darlin121 03-23-2011 05:27 PM

I recently discovered pajama days. I always used to get dressed and then head out of the bedroom, then I had surgery and had to stay in bed for 4 weeks. Changed me I guess! I look forward to pajama days and get totally absorbed in quilting and just doing whatever I want to. Doesn't happen nearly enough though.

drivingsusan 03-23-2011 05:50 PM

I have pajama days every day...do not even get dressed to go to work!!! Of course I work from home....at night!!! PJs or housedresses for me all the time unless I have to go somewhere!!! And no one to tell me otherwise!!! It is like heaven!!!

deedum 03-23-2011 06:37 PM

I love jammie days! Just don't get many of them! I feel very lucky to get to stay in my jammies til 10 or so once in a while. I love to play in my sewing room like that. People just don't know how addicting this hobby is! Like my most favorite day is a jammie day!

mhansen6 03-23-2011 07:05 PM

Absolutely. A weekend ago my husband was out of town. I got dressed but that is about it. Got up, got my coffee and off to the sewing room. I was there until it was time to go to bed. I loved it.

Rose L 03-23-2011 09:11 PM

Well, it was a wonderful day! I was able to get all of my strips cut, pieced and pressed. I watched a couple of movies, ate almost nothing, and talked to some of my kids and grand kids on the phone. Tomorrow I get to do it all over again! I will be cutting the pieced strips and placing them on the sweatshirt. I hope you ALL get a pajama day very soon. ;) I will post a picture of the finished jacket as soon as I can.

I love pj days!! So relaxing. Your jacket is going to be beautiful!

AnnieH 03-23-2011 10:04 PM

Well done you. Bet you're having such a wonderful two days. Try to be convincing when you tell your DH how much you missed him!

He'd tell me that once and only once!

GGrammie 03-24-2011 03:14 AM

Pajama Days...

when I was raising my family. Pajama day meant being sick , to sick to do anything...
Today as the family has found their place in the world, I often take a pajama day. DH doesn't mind and he does his things.
This winter I had many PJ days.
OOOH I may be needing one soon.

deedum 03-24-2011 03:15 AM

He'd tell me that once and only once![/quote]

I agree with that!

MerryQuilter 03-24-2011 03:31 AM

No happiest in my jeans and if I get my walk in first, have to shower early, but enjoy!

JandJ 03-24-2011 03:35 AM

I haven't heard the words "house dress" in years. My mom used to wear house dresses before it was proper for women to wear pants. Brings back fond memories of her. (tears)

jitkaau 03-24-2011 03:38 AM

Too much hard training instilled in me that when you get up you get dressed, won't allow me to relax like that. However, I have had almost complete days in bed to snooze, read, watch TV to compensate for it...and it is wonderful.
Do you find that the quilting goes better on your relax days?
The colour combination you have there looks promising.

jtquilts 03-24-2011 03:52 AM

I love your fabrics for the jacket! I look forward to seeing your pictures when you are finished! I am having a jammies day today, too. Working on machine quilting a two-color Lone Star.

emerald46 03-24-2011 03:52 AM

Yep, about once a month I have a jammie day. My SIL started me on that. Her DH brings in breakfast and cooks the rest of the day. She stays in bed, watches movies and reads. I would have to be sick to stay in bed all day but I do just what I want for the day.

Tinabodina 03-24-2011 03:57 AM

I try to take those days when ever I can; seems good for the soul. Just don't have enough of them.

terrt 03-24-2011 04:06 AM

ENJOY!! I LOVE THOSE DAYS. I AM GOING TO A WEEK-END RETREAT AND I LOVE THIS ALSO!! REFUELING TIME!!

katyquilter 03-24-2011 04:11 AM

I had a pajama day last Saturday. It was 5 pm before I realilzed I was still in my PJs. Great day, but hard to come by.

justlooking 03-24-2011 04:12 AM

I love those days! Don't have many, and my DH doesn't believe in stay in your PJs. But that's his problem, I'm the one who does.

bamamama 03-24-2011 04:15 AM

When DH has to travel for work I just love it even though I miss him, I look forward to not having to get dressed if I don't want to. Last time I had a friend that thought I was depressed over him leaving because I wouldn't go out! I was making a quilt for goodness sakes, nothing makes me happier! She does not sew or understand, LOL.

Well, I guess I had a pj day yesterday, only I was dressed in a t-shirt and shorts!! I worked for 12 hours, with a few breaks, on a pieced quilt border that has given me a major headache. Thankfully I have THE BEST FRIEND IN THE WORLD, who lives in WI. Between phone calls and sending pics back and forth with our phone and her wonderful sketching ability, she solved my problem. Still have to work on it today...after work, but will post pic when it is done!

Enjoy your pj day #2!!!

lillybeck 03-24-2011 04:29 AM

I love pajama days only I call mine nightgown days. It is so nice to just lounge around once in awhile. It took me a while to learn this after working most of my life but now that I know about it I love it.
