I thought I lost mine too but they moved them to 5:30 and 6:00 am (i guess they think quilters are early morning tv watchers...you can go to:

http://www.pbs.org/tv_schedules/

and see if maybe they moved yours.
I watch a lot of free videos here: Nancy Zieman of PBS has some here.

The Create Channel is owned by Vermont Public Television and they do make their channel available to all cable providers. The good thing about their programming is each quilting program is available at 6a, noon, 6p, and midnight, so there's a good chance you can catch it. Perhaps with encouragement your provider will carry Create...just keep asking. Create currently has Martha's Sewing Room, Fons & Porter and Lap Quilting with Georgia Bonesteel. My cable provider also carries VT and NH public TV stations so I get Sewing with Nancy and America Sews as well. Last year Create was only showing Sewing with Nancy, which I also get on NHPT), so I'd like to think my repeated requests prompted them to offer other quilt programs.

Here in Missouri on channel 9.4 Fons & Porter are on Tuesday and Thursday. Three times a day
5:00 am
11:30
5:00 pm

Been there and tried that but nothing worked even though I'm a member of PBS. I miss my Fons and Porter and wish I could get the Create channel but it's not offered by DirectTv.

kyrose 09-15-2011 05:10 AM

In my area there are only a few shows. I just went to the PBS web site and left a comment. If you want to make a Comment to PBS,
goto their site, www.pbs.org,
goto comments and
at the bottom you will find feedback,
click on it and leave your message.

I still get Fons & Porter on PBS here in Ontario on Wednesdays. That's usually the only quilting show I get. Sometimes Sewing with Nancy had some quilting episodes on it, but other than that that is all I get.

Karen Collins 09-15-2011 05:25 AM

I have Charter Cable in Georgia. I did find two PBS stations - one in Athens and one in Atlanta"Sewing with Nancy" on PBS30 on channel 9. Comes on every Saturday at 6:00 or 6:30 am. I have a DVR and will record it so I can watch it at a more reasonable time. Also, I joined a Quilting web site (actually it's some kind of quilt web TV) where you can watch anytime - ton's of quilt shows. Was reasonably priced and had other bonuses. I love this!

Caswews 09-15-2011 05:51 AM

no Fons & Porter here on the western slope of CO, but there is still Sewing with Nancy .. No Martha Pullen either on the PBS station

mengler 09-15-2011 05:59 AM

I have 2 suggestions. If you have cable or sat. Use the search on your tv and enter "sewing". That will bring up most of the shows: Pullen, SWN, but mine doesn't list Fons & Porter unless I enter "Fons" for some reason. The other option is Wpt.org search "Nancy" for SWN on your computer. You can view the last two years of Sewing w/Nancy FULL episodes free :). You can view all the titles and choose. It's not tv but it's not bad.

Nolee 09-15-2011 06:13 AM

Here in Rochester, NY, the PBS local station won't even give you the time of day if you call or write to them. They just say it's not their decision, it is the decision of the "head PBS" station, whoever that is. Very disappointing customer service. Create TV is even worse. You NEVER get a response from them.

My husand went to the library and got me all the Fons and Porter and Simply Quilt programs on DVD. Call around!!

Is that Bonesteel program from way back when???Most of what does show up on our PBS is oldie quilting programs....nothing new except once in awhile I will catch the "new" Fons and Porter - with the daughter...not sure if I like it or not........I guess all the well-known quilters nowadays are only on the "pay" computer sites.......sorry I can't see that in my future (paying that is).....

gmcsewer 09-15-2011 06:31 AM

It truly is the support they receive in their fund drives and listener communication. I donate each year and specifically check the sewing and quilting shows for my support. Contact the station and ses why they don't have the shows.

JusticeClan 09-15-2011 06:47 AM

I've also noticed it. I wrote BYU too because they moved Fons and Porter to 4 a.m. No one responded to my letter.

Kathy Osterby 09-15-2011 06:49 AM

I have Comcast cable and "Create channel 220 the "Wisconsin channel and channel 21 "WPT carry both "Fons & Porter,"Sewing with Nancy on "Sat. mornings.220 carrys them and Martha's sewing at 11am and repeated at 11pm weekdays.

And then, to add to the disappointment, F&P gives the shows to the PBS stations for FREE!!! Now why wouldn't they take it? No sense!!

My thoughts also ! Makes NO sense. I'm just outside the 4th LARGEST city in the US (Houston) and we can't get good programs ?? Sewing with Nancy has been on forever, F&P has been on and off (many were older series) We have Comcast but don't get these other options. I don't watch anymore. Thank goodness for the Web !!

MissJMac 09-15-2011 06:53 AM

Here in KC, we Fons and Porter and Sewing with Nancy on Saturday mornings 8:00-9:00 am. Haven't heard about any cancellations, but the fundraisers seem to be getting more frequent and way to often I tune in on Saturday morning and find a fundraising marathon instead. I support PBS when I can, but I fear many of their programs will be cut as a result of the current economy.
Glad I taped all of the "Simply Quilt" shows before they went off the air.

Highmtn 09-15-2011 07:05 AM

We lost our PBS Saturday morning quilt show line up for about 4 months. I was SOOO BUMMED! Then.. out of the blue.. they came back on! My best suggestion would be to call or email PBS and ask them what happened.

I love my Saturday morning quilt shows! I've picked up sooo many tips and tricks watching (and listening) to them.

Good Luck...
.

BarbaraSue 09-15-2011 07:09 AM

But I'd rather they stop, than rerun shows from 2007! While the quilts are still beautiful, the "new" products shown are sometimes obsolete.
Never was a big fan of Sue Hausmann's show. Our area just keeps playing her shows over and over from 2007, 2008. I've seen them all already.

Karen Collins 09-15-2011 07:24 AM

I checked programing on both PBS stations in Atlanta area and I found one show. I also checked my Charter TV line-up trying to find Create and it wasn't listed. I double checked the Create web site and Georgia is not a state where this is available. YUCK, YUCK, YUCK....

thrums 09-15-2011 07:37 AM

Perhaps your local guild/shop can have a petition to bring back the shows....especially if the signers are PBS members.

That is a great idea.

Highmtn 09-15-2011 07:48 AM

LOL.. omg.. I would SOOO WATCH a quilting reality show...LOL But.. IF they looked at our "stash closets"...then we would end up being featured on the show "HOARDERS"...LOL Such a vicious circle... *giggling*

grdmachris 09-15-2011 07:54 AM

We only have and old fashioned TV antennea. We have the HDTV box to go along for Analog TV's and we get three PBS stations. FREE! We get Gloria Bonesteele and F&P and also Nancy Sews. So it is free if you have the right equipment.

JudyMN 09-15-2011 08:05 AM

They have stopped in Minneapolis too!

stitchinwitch 09-15-2011 08:08 AM

OPT showed all 4 shows last Saturday - Of course, that doesn't mean that it;ll always be on - we will see.

Cecil 09-15-2011 09:18 AM

I,m from Western PA and we don,t have any either.

grannypat7925 09-15-2011 09:24 AM

Have no idea. We still get them here starting at 7 a.m. Sat. morning and on till 10 a.m.

And, no, I don't have one of those DVR 'thingies' with my satellite and neither of the PBS stations in the Jacksonville, FL area have sewing shows that I've found.

guinea54 09-15-2011 09:44 AM

I have Direct TV & Eleanor Burns (my hero) is on Wed @1:30cdt on RFD-TV, F&P on BYU @10:30 daily(3 season reruns, but good the 1st time you watch them). I miss sewing W/ Nancy, Kaye England, etc from PBS Sat am programming, also

Owllady 09-15-2011 10:19 AM

We get them on the Create Channel PBS2

This is where they are on in my area as well; I never see them on the regular PBS station but everyday (except most weekends) they are on Create at 6am, 12 noon, 6 pm and 12 midnight.

LadyElisabeth 09-15-2011 11:03 AM

I just have the "box" and old antenna, haven't found any quilting shows, only the sewing with Nancy and Sue's show on Saturday.
So let's start an old fashioned LETTER WRITING CAMPAIGN. Not emails, but snail mail to our local PBS stations? How about the first week in October? I think 44 cents would be worth it!

desertrose 09-15-2011 11:58 AM

Unless we have only the converted box we miss all the quilt shows in AZ. On dish they don't offer any quilt shows unless Sewing with Nancy on PBS Saturday mornings has a quilting program. I guess the shows have gone to Fon's and Porter's shows yhat you have to pay for to see online. Sad isn't it that we must rely on youtube or Missouri Quilt Company for tutorials on new quilting techiques.

capemay 09-15-2011 12:04 PM

luv-e

I understand they are cutting PBS funding, but PBS should go out of their way to make the public happy. The whole morning/afternon shouldn't be just childrens programming. They need to do more than just sit around a television, which the presidents wife is trying to tell people.

There are TONS of quilting guilds in the Pittsburgh and surrounding area. Trust me, they have clout. A lot of ladies quit contributing to them because we went down from 2 sewing shows a week, and 4 quilting shows a week to ZERO!! This is weekly, not daily. So we weren't asking too much if you ask me.

grdmachris 09-15-2011 12:34 PM

If you go to fonsandporter.com and go to the TV Series section at the top they have all the older videos of their series on there. You can sit and watch them free. The newer ones no, but some of the older wones before Liz left are really good.

Mona Lisa 2011 09-15-2011 12:52 PM

I think it must be all over. the west coast doesn't get any either. I have to go to the BYU channel(9403) on dish. Fons and Porter daily. RFD has Eleanor Burns on Wednesday. Other than that I can't find anything except online............

Pepita 09-15-2011 01:31 PM

In the Houston area we get Quilting Arts right now. You can go online and often they will have a few of their shows to watch. I think the internet subscription seem to be the wave of the future.

I have heard rumors of the post office cutting 22thousand?, I get the impression that the daily deliveries would stop.

cr12cats 09-15-2011 01:43 PM

i like this better.

here are a few you can watch on your puter. i like to watch what i want when i want. there free by the way.

I cannot answer your question about the New York area, but here in New Orleans on Saturday, we get quilting and sewing shows from 10:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. I really look forward to them every week. Hope you get your shows back soon.
