I think you could have heard my gasp in the next city!

It is too late tonight to do anything about it but I know that I have quite a task tomorrow to get this fixed. I am just so glad that I washed it and found this area before giving it as a gift.

(colors aren't true, probably not enough lights on!)

That is a beautiful quilt and good for you for washing the quilt and checking it over before you gave it away. I know you will fix this and it will be better than new.

Applique, of a heart, or a label with an important date for her on it.

Oh no! That's always my fear after I finish one and run it through the washer and dryer. I close my eyes and hold my breath until I get it unfolded and take a quick look. Then a huge sigh of relief when all seems alright!! I do hope you're able to repair the seam because it's a beautiful quilt!! By the way....I used some of those same fabrics in my rag quilt. They're so pretty!! I'd be interested in hearing how your repair was made if you can post about it. Keeping my fingers and everything else possible crossed for you.

Exactly! I washed my nieces baby quilt before I gave it to her, I had the same thing happen to me, I had pieced batting so I just took the back off and redid the quilt and backed with fleece (that is all I had on hand), I washed again and all was fine....

This is one reason I don't use the scant 1/4" seam. I sew a complete 1/4" seam with a short stitch length. As long as all my seams are the same, my blocks will be the same size.

What a disappointment. If that block represents the front I love your colors. Your experience is one I will learn from so appreciate your sharing it.

Oh my. Hope you get it fixed.

Thanks for posting this. It will help us all.

(Going home to unwrap the quilt DH is taking to its recipients tomorrow and double check. Also going to reinforce the seams on a quilt which had some seams less than 1/4".)

I always wash quilts before I give them. If there is a problem I want to be the first one to know about it!
