I love my Phaff, I just bought 1yr.ago, , the IDT walking
foot is the greatest idea, the machinees runs smooth
and frabric feeds well Bsrb

I have a Pfaff & really like the even feed feature.

Annz 07-14-2010 06:51 PM

Yes this is a great feature with the pfaff. I love mine.

Linda B 07-14-2010 06:52 PM

I'll add my votes for Pfaff. I still have my hobby version and have the 2027 Classic Style Quilt. I'm dreaming about the Creative Vision. I don't think I could ever consider a different brand.

This is like a built in walking foot without the bulk. It works beautifully. When I use my Pfaff, I use it for all kinds of sewing. I wish I had one on my Viking.

jemma 07-14-2010 07:36 PM

pfaff machines purrrrrrrrrrrrr--and so do i when using it

Sheree from Chicago 07-14-2010 08:32 PM

Love my Pfaff! She's a simple one but I love it. Never any problems and I do love the IDF.

AliKat 07-14-2010 08:39 PM

I love my Pfafgf with the IDT technology. It keeps me sewing. The Pfaff and a 1/4" flanged foot let me enjoy sewing without strssing my hands and fingers, as there is less need to manipulate the fabric with sewing. They are even better than chocolate [well, most of thetime anyway.]

I have a Bernina 730E and I wish they had added it before I got mine, too.

It pulls the fabric evenly from top and bottom. I wouldn't sew without it.

Actually the new Bernina 830 and 820 have it. I just wish they had added it before I got my 640. I used to have a Pfaff and really loved the IDF. But I fmq a lot and the lever for lifting the presser foot is in the back on the Bernina, not inside the throat of the machine. I was always catching it with my quilt an knocking it out of darning mode, darn it! So I don't miss that!

Horseladyquilter 07-15-2010 02:01 AM

Yes, a wonderful feature. I believe Pfaff is the only one that has this built in feature. It can be engaged and disengaged with a push of your finger. Not to be used for embroidery. Also, if it shouldn't be used with a certain foot, that foot won't let you engage the IDT.

fabric-holic 07-15-2010 02:30 AM

I have a Pfaff 2170 that I love but only use a fraction of what it can do. Sews like a charm.
I'd love to get a Creative Vision but can't right now.

I actually saved up and did buy a Creative [CV] but am paying it off on the no interest loan plan anyway. I only uise that machine at home at when I take a CV class. Otherwise, my old Pfaff is my 'traveling machine.' The Older Pfaff has the IDT but is not an embroidery machine at all. Love them both.

All I want now is to find an affordable featherweight for when my hands deteriorate more ... which they are doing.

My pfaff machine is the best machine I have ever had.. I don't buy a new machine often.. this will no doubt be my last new machine.

I just finished making my first 'Bow Tuck' bag.. and I love how easy it was to do the quilting for the bag.. it was a joy to sew today.. I sat there all day.. what a fun day I had.. I don't get to do that often and it makes me so happy when I can..

A beautiful new Pfaff and a whole day of sewing.. must be heaven!

jprusky 07-15-2010 03:47 PM

I wouldn't be without a Pfaff and the IDT, this feature has saved me lots of headaches.

I love that old machine and will never give it up.. but let me tell you, this new Pfaff is the most wonderful thing in my life next to my DH and my grandchildren!! I love a Pfaff!

Oh, Judie! Our DH's must be TWINS!!! I've had a Pfaff 1471 for over 20 years - and I just got the Creative Vision 5.0 for my birthday from him! I really love it, but feel "clumsy" with it, since my 1471 and I have worked as one for so many years. I haven't done any embroidery yet - but hope to do so VERY soon! Do you have any tips for me??? Thanks!

Judy in Waco 07-15-2010 08:38 PM

At my first quilting class, I found out that my Singer machine was broken. The instructor was great and she let me use her spare Pfaff that she brings just in case anyone needs it. Wow! I completely fell in love with the IDT concept and Pfaffs in general. I'm now saving for one of my own. I have our local sewing machine repair person looking for a gently used or refurbished one.

Seriously, it sews like butter!!

vschieve 07-15-2010 09:01 PM

Judy,
Austin Sewing has a Round Rock location but I go to the south store where I take my embroidery classes. They are always having nice used ones and they are serviced before but out on the floor to sell. You also get lessons on how to use it.

OOh! Cool! When I've saved more, I'll check them out. :) Thanks!

vschieve 07-15-2010 09:43 PM

Do you like the older, heavy mechanical Pfaffs? The south store has a Pfaff 1222 for sale or did the last time I was in the store. It came out about 10 years or so after my Pfaff 262 which came out in 1968. The 262 is the one you see in my ID picture. They also had a Pfaff 2144 embroidery machine for sale which a lot of the 2144's have been upgraded to 2170's, which is what I have. I like having an embroidery Pfaff which is computerized and then my old heavy duty tanker right next to it. I can multi-task! I think they are asking $300 for the Pfaff 1222.

I love my pfaff 7570, just wish it had an auto thread cutter. I *hate* having to always cut threads! I know, I know...I'm lazy! LOL

At the Round Rock Austin and Sewing you can ask what is available before going in. I love these people and have been purchasing from them since 1991 (before there were 2 stores to choose from and they were at I-35 and 290). Either store is worth the trip, but if you are coming in from the north, the Round Rock store could be your first stop. If you don't find what you want there, go on to the south store. Optimize your travel and cover all your bases so you won't regret not dropping in on both.

Thanks! Sounds like a good plan. I think I'll do that when I'm ready. :)

Hi lab fairy,
I wonder how many of us are in central TX? I am in south Austin and I have yet to enter the Round Rock store but love the south store. They have retrieved things for me from their RR store, like parts to my old Pfaff 262, but do my classes and fabric and accessory buying all at the south unless they are out of something, then RR sends it on. Love um; love um. Are you on Facebook? They are; just call up Austin Sewing.

The IDT is WONDERFUL ... it's a BUILT-IN walking foot that you don't have to attach (unlike all the other manuf.). It is there behind the presser foot all the time, and if you DON'T want to use it on a certain project you just disengage it. Simple as that. It is wonderful for straight line & ditch quilting and esp for borders & bindings. It's been on Pfaffs for about 15-20 yrs I think ... The Janome 6600 is the only other machine I'm aware of now that offers a built in dual feed foot. :)

shardee 07-18-2010 04:14 AM

I bought my Pfaff 360 in 1965 and it is still my favorite machine. Have a 260 and just got a Creative 1469. They are such great machines. Also have a Janome for embroidery. the Pfaff 360 is so quiet it puts all others to shame.

lab fairy 07-18-2010 09:18 AM

I live in the north Austin area. I don't do facebook for a lot of reasons. I love Austin Sewing and am a loyal customer. I haven't bought a machine anywhere else since 1991.

Babylock offers a machine called the Quest Plus that has the built in walking foot (IDF). It is very similar to my Pfaff 7570, plus the feet between Pfaff and the Quest Plus are interchangable!

Horseladyquilter 07-19-2010 01:58 PM

Know what you mean! I kept my 7570 when I got a 2170, then couldn't bear to part with either of them when got my CV. Pfaff happy house!

lab fairy 07-19-2010 03:52 PM

Be careful interchanging feet with machines of different brands. They may fit the shank or snap on OK but they don't always have the same width clearance for all the stitches. I could not use the Babylock feet on my Pfaff if I were going to use the 9mm stitches because Babylocks are only designed for an 8mm width.

Blue Bell 07-19-2010 04:41 PM

That is a wonderful feature. You have to buy a walking foot for all the other machines.
