Does anyone have the tutorial to make the pillowcase using the hotdog method?? I've got the fabric cut but don't understand the directions I was given. It doesn't show which way to lay the fabric---up or down??? Help--would really appreciate it.

carolaug 01-23-2011 12:31 PM

never heard of the hotdog method? I have several tutorials on the tube method which I love doing. http://www.thriftyideastoday.com/201...ns-on-how.html

carolaug 01-23-2011 12:35 PM

I just did a google search...lots of PDFs - its the same as the tube method that I have linked on my site that are videos - very easy. You will love making them.

Thanks for the links!

Quilt 01-23-2011 12:54 PM

Thank you for all the different ways to make the same thing. Isn't it funny---it is called Hot Dog, Sausage and Tube Pillowcases but all the same. I'm ready to roll that hot dog and make two beauitful pillowcases to go with the King Size quilt I made for son and wife for Christmas. You all are fabulous for answering so fast!!

craftybear 01-23-2011 12:59 PM

thanks everyone for the links and please post a picture if you make them to share with all of us, we love pictures for show and tell

I so enjoy making pillowcases and I love doing the tube method. They're so quick and easy and I've made several sets.

nangars 01-23-2011 05:15 PM

I have made over 70 of the pillowcase for charity and friends, go on YouTube and look for Sauceage pillowcase, there is a demo to how it is done.

Jingle 01-23-2011 06:29 PM

I saw the one done by the Missouri Quilt Company, and I made four of them and wrote down important parts.

nangars 01-23-2011 08:53 PM

I took the pillowcases to a Quilt shop that donated them and it was to go as part of the count of the Million pillowcase goal.

I recently started making pillowcases in the tube/roll/hotdog/etc method and love it! It looks so nice and neat when done and sooo easy!

This one is excellent!!! I have made several using this method

JanG 01-24-2011 05:31 AM

I'm assuming you mean the roll up method. If you care to share your e-mail address I can send you the tutorial put out by Missouri Star Quilt Company or possibly go to their website. It is an absolutely fun way to make the cases. I'm making 50 for a charity project - 5 to go!! I tried to insert their tutorial in here but it wouldn't work.

JanG 01-24-2011 05:32 AM

Ooops - the link is already listed on here. Didn't read far enough.

I think the Missouri Quilt tutorial is the most straight forward explanation of the "Hot dog" or "Burrito" or "tube" method of making a pillowcase.

nangars 01-24-2011 07:13 AM

There was a 2nd one on YouTube at one time that had the written instructions also. They are sure EZ and I will cut a bunch out at a time and do them.

I have a few to make up that I didn't have time at Xmas to get done. We have a Niece and Nephew that have 10 grandkids. We have two, one of which lives with her Father which we never see.
Everyone loves Pillowcase, my friends got a lot of what I made for Xmas, not quilts but other things.

SherrieDLux 01-24-2011 07:20 AM

I just made two from the Missour Star Quilt Co, I love Jenny, she explains things so well, and it was finished in 2 hours, and looks beautiful...Please try there first, you will love it and so much more to learn there.

nangars 01-24-2011 07:40 AM

I agree, she does a nice job and showing you step my step on how to make things. Would love to live near that shop, but not this time of year.

HoneysMom 01-24-2011 08:06 AM

This is a great tutorial. I love all of their tutorials. Have fun making your pillowcases.

yolanda 01-24-2011 08:07 AM

I have heard it called the 'burrito' method. I love making these pillowcases because it gets done so quickly and I feel so accomplished!

Grandma Libby 01-24-2011 08:17 AM

The one I used over and over again and it is so CLEAR, is Making a Sausage Pillowcase with Judy. I think if you just type that in, it will come up. It's really good.

nangars 01-24-2011 08:26 AM

I think that is where I got the idea of the Sausage Pillowcase it was Judy that was doing it on YouTube, they have a lot of great video on different sewing projects. For people who don't have any idea of what to do and need pictures with instructions that is the way to go. Sometimes if I see it done one time I can do it after that.

TexasSunshine 01-24-2011 05:46 PM

I agree with AnnT, when I understood how to do it, it is easy and fun. They go really fast if you cut out several and sew them up at once.

milikaa1 01-24-2011 07:05 PM

I followed the directions on Robin Gallaghers video and is really simple to follow...
