I was always told to suck the blood out of the pin prick and it would not hurt. I know it sounds sort of gross, but it works. No, it is not enough blood to turn you into a Vampire!
That's what I do. But for some reason I rarely prick my finger. When I do prick it, it is with a straight pin when I'm pushing it trhough fabric. I do get a little callus on the finger I used under the quilt when I am hand quilting, but never actually get blood.
