Has anyone heard of a pattern called PINEAPPLES. I saw it demonstrated today and was very impressed. Is it as easy as it looked?

How was it done?

No, the one I saw had no piecing. It was all done in squares. I just ordered the book from Amazon and want to try the sample I saw. It was georgeous.

This is it, except instead of cutting the triangles, the demo I saw faced the squares, sewed all around the square, cut the triangles after the sewing and turned it inside out. It had the same effect.
Thank you for your information. I saved it and I'll try it. |

I saw this demonstrated yesterday too. Have shied away from pineapple block because of waste, but this was a great way to do it. Going to try it soon. |
Did you attend the San Antonio Quilt Guild yesterday?
|
The pattern June gave link to I know as 'square within a square' and the one tirnhi gave is known as athe Pineapple block. I have made several of the latter and they are really fun. Using your printer reduce/enlarge mode, you can make the squares any size you want.
Hope we have helped and not hindered. |
I just sat down and did a couple of them. They turned out nice. I started with a 3" square and am now at a 5" square in a different color.
I always hated using triangles as I could never match them right. This is ieasy, BUT, I wouldn't want to do a whole quilt like that. |
