Wow, we have 27 pages of replies. I also am thrilled to be doing this, just to get my creative juices running again. I'm a laid back...."fly by the seat of my pants" type of scrap quilter so I've read all of the comments and I have to add...its my opinion that you are all over-thinking this pinwheel project...what is the exact size it'll come out...what is the exact number of pinwheels I'll need to make. I have a large number of 5 inch batik squares that I'm going to be using....I tried it with white fabric but think I'll go with black as a unifying fabric that'll make the pinwheels float on the quilt....but besides that, I'm just going to enjoy sitting down each night and making my pinwheel...choosing a fun looking fabric and sewing. I figure at some point, I might get bored with the project...at that time, I plan on pulling out all my completed pinwheels...putting them up on my design board, seeing what size quilt I can make with them and proceeding with it. So I say...chill out and lets just have fun doing this together.

I thought I had signed up awhile back so please add me to the list if I had a senior moment and thought I signed up but did not.
grandme26 Judy Thank you. Found me on page 7 bottom half of page. :) I made 2 pinwheels today using the stitchin al around and they turned out fairly well. I also pressed the seams open and that seems to have helped. Might start doing that on all that I do. |
Add me in too. I love pinwheels and am going to do mine scrappy and white.
|
I am going to try to work on mine some tonight, since I won't be home tomorrow (if the weather continues to cooperate). My DDIL and I are going to Longwood Gardens to look at the orchid display and get a taste of spring. (Shhhh, don't tell the weatherman, it's just our little secret)
|
Ok Starting tonight. Been playing with mine on scrap fabric. Wish me luck.

Good Luck every body lets go for it. I have already done my share of unpicking it should be strait sailing from now on i know what i want to make!!
|
I, too, would like to be included. I know I previously sent my request, but it must have gotten lost - maybe blown away by a pinwheel in motion!
I remember telling that I want to put pinwheels around a center panel for a baby quilt, so this will be a great way to get to it. I haven't done them before. Of course, unless I make them really small, I won't need to make 78 of them for that project, but will find something else to do with the the left overs. |

I got out my 10" blocks and some of them are 10 x 9 3/4! Glad I decided to do 8" and planned to cut them down anyway. Have a good time at the orchid show! It is supposed to cool off and rain here in the afternoon but we are far from you. :-D |

If your personal goal is met you can stop making pinwheels! I won't be making all 78 I don't think. |

Well my quilting friends, here are some of my pinwheels, I did a few earlier today because I will not be able to work on any more until after the weekend. This is going to be a baby quilt for my grandbaby. We do not know what sex it is yet, so therefore I chose yellow, with the dots.(for either sex) The back will be the green that is in the dots. Will post it later. They may not be perfect but I think they look good. It takes a while to get the hang of it. I think every one you do it get a little easier and easier. By the time I finish this I should be a pro like some of you experienced quilters. But for one thing I am having fun doing this with all of you. Thanks
|
Can you share the link for Bonnie Hunter's website you are referring to? Thanks...

Down the right side are the scrappy quilts. I think someone was thinking of patches and pinwheels. |

If it's not too late, count me in. Got lots of purple fabric donated to me recently so this is the perfect way to use some of it . Finished quilts will go to the palliative care unit at our local hospital.

I've started mine! No camera, but will post when neighbor comes over with cell phone.
I'm making white with 1930s fabrics using charm packs, then cutting down to 5 1/2 inches. This will be MINE, all mine! |
I've tried 3 times to post pictures. Can someone help me? What do I do after I write my comment in the reply box? The help area says to click the browse button...where is that?
|
I just found out my answer I think. Will try this again. This is a picture of 3 pinwheels with an embroidered block added.
