I found piecing a crazy patchwork wall hanging was just the thing to take along. I pieced it onto muslin doing it all by hand and it went everywhere with me for a long time. It was fun but I'm glad it's finished! It made me really grateful for my sewing machine!

An apple core quilt would be nice to hand piece.

How does crazy quilt block embroidery and embellishing while riding in a car for a 9 hour trip. Has anyone done this; and does it work or does the bumps in the road mess up the stitching? I'm leaving soon so it would be nice to know if I can pack this or find another project; I don't have any English Paper Piecing projects and don't really want to start another project.

Depends on how "quiet" your driver is on the road! Hopefully it is freeway driving and not where the potholes are. :) I get car sick though and can't work on things in the car for very long. I usually choose to drive. Good luck!

Hope this isn't a dumb question, but you are doing the paper piecing by hand? I want to try it and it might be good for taking places. thanks for any help!

What great Ideas, guess I should learn to paper piece, but will have to take a class since instructions goes over my head.
