I've read some unpleasant experiences some of you have had with online purchases, so I thought I would post about my good experience.

I recently ordered 8.5 yards of fabric for a quilt back from Fabric.com. It was $3.95 clearance fabric. The order went smoothly and the fabric arrived yesterday. I pulled it out of the box, and a small piece the fabric, about 1/2 yard, fell to the floor. I thought they had pieced my 8.5 yard order, and that I would have to piece my quilt back. BUT -- when I measured the big piece, it was a generous 8.5 yards! I can only speculate that the smaller piece of fabric was all that was left, and so they included it in my order.

My tiny stash is now a bit larger!!

Kim_ 02-01-2011 08:15 AM

I also have ordered many times from them and have had good experience and quality material.

Tink's Mom 02-01-2011 08:26 AM

They are my "go to" online fabric store.....
Last week, I received 2 seperate orders from them...don't ask how much I spent.
One piece out of about 50 was cut short. I had asked for 3 yards of this one, and I got 1. Most of the others were 1yard
. I called up and they immediately told me they are sending me another 3 yard piece, and no, I don't need to return the 1 yard.

Ooh, Fabric.com is one of my favorite sites to order fabric from. They cut their yards 37" instead of 36". I love that! I can't count how many times I've gotten home from my LQS and my one yard of fabric (which I paid dearly for) was cut crooked and by the time I prewashed and straightened it up for cutting, I was well short of that one yard. Adding that extra inch is just another nice plus from the great folks at Fabric.com. :D

It's always nice to hear about wonderful service. I really like Fabric.com. Great service and very nice fabrics.

I love Fabric.com. I've ordered from them for years and never had one problem. They're very prompt too!

Ditto!

kateyb 02-01-2011 09:24 AM

I've never ordered from them but will have to put them on my list.

quiltlonger 02-01-2011 10:09 AM

Kuddos to you all for the good/GREAT comments :)

PWinston 02-01-2011 10:18 AM

Ditto on Fabric.com favorable comments. Very pleased with their service and their fabric.

erstan947 02-01-2011 01:05 PM

I usually also order their "grab bag". It has always been more than 8 total yards. I am a scrappy quilter so I love all the different pieces. Most have been just under a yard but no smaller than a 1/4 yard. They are fast and easy to order from.

quiltsRfun 02-01-2011 01:54 PM

I'm glad to see these positive comments. I'll remember fabric.com next time I'm looking online for fabric.

feffertim 02-01-2011 01:59 PM

The same thing happened to me when I ordered fabric from connecting threads, I got almost a fat quarter free.

I ordered it, too...just love the grab bag! Mine had 2 pieces of Kaffe Fassett fabric in it...nearly a yard each.

MamaBear61 02-01-2011 07:04 PM

I use them alot as well and only once have ever had an order not filled completely and they simply sent me what I had ordered with a day or two and what had been sent in error they told me to keep. I order from their clearance items a great deal and if they no longer have an fabric in stock they let me know right away and their shipping is super quick even all the way up here in Ontario.

SherriB 02-01-2011 07:10 PM

I love fabric.com! I am expecting an order from them tomorrow. And they do have awesome customer service.

mackandblues 02-01-2011 07:11 PM

oo I didnt know they had grab bags! I'm a scrappy quilter too. Love fabric.com and I've always found a 15% off coupon on retailmenot.com. Which means I just get to buy more fabric :) And who can spend only $35 on fabric?

Happy Tails 02-02-2011 03:28 AM

I will have to give them a try. I order a ton of stuff from Conneting threads and have always been happy. I know a lot of you buy from Joanns, but they don't ship to Canada so my question is to those who order online...have you found a best place to order your basting spray and your steam a seam??(cuz I'm pretty sure you would have checked around)

So true. They send our daily email specials, too. Soooo addictive. I have to have the emails go directly into a folder so I don't spend too much. They do give great service!

Hen3rietta 02-02-2011 04:43 AM

I've ordered from fabric.com for many years and have always had fast and courteous service. The one time there was an error they corrected it immediately and told me not to return the wrong selection. If I weren't on No-buy again this year I'd browse their site more often.

So nice to hear a praise report for a change. I always like it when someone goes the extra mile.

I've had the same experience with my LQS. I had to go back and buy an extra 1/4 yd to finish my project. Why are they so stingy with their cuts?? I can understand that adding an extra inch on each cut might affect their profit, but it seems that they'd be more interested in having happy customers.

CarrieAnne 02-02-2011 05:39 AM

That was really nice!

I had a similar experience with them. But they added a notation on my bill that one of the pieces I ordered was end of bolt, so they added the extra 1/2 yard with no additional charge. They are my favorite on line store.

Joanne 02-02-2011 05:53 AM

One company I never hesitate ordering from. Very good service.

Ann L 02-02-2011 05:57 AM

I just placed two orders. One from a LQS and they sent a generous yard piece and the other from Joanns, it was right on the line. Good thing it was pretty much squared up or I would have been in trouble. It is so nice to do business with someone that is a bit more thoughtful of their customers.

MamaHen 02-02-2011 06:08 AM

I have ordered two times in last month, and both orders arrived within a couple of days. Can't say enough good things about their service. I'll start ordering more often.

sandpat 02-02-2011 06:55 AM

This is one of my favs too....they always call if there is any question and they ship quickly! I love to shop there!

kellen46 02-02-2011 08:47 AM

I have been ordering from them since way back when they were Phoenix Fabrics. I have never had a problem. They also have good craft supplies and notions and of course patterns. They have really expanded their customer base by consistent good service and good quality merchandise.

LucyInTheSky 02-02-2011 08:56 AM

I love fabric.com. I've only had one problem where I bought 1/2 yard of Wizard of Oz and they sent me 1 yd of dots. I called, they apologized, immediately sent the replacement (I think 2nd day, which I wasn't in a rush, but they insisted) and said I could keep the 1 yard.

Every other order has been perfect, and as someone said, they always do a generous cut which is very much appreciated

jamannix 02-02-2011 09:13 AM

Fabric.com always sends a generous yard. Sometimes as much as 39"'
Also when I ordered braided trim from them last year it arrived untaped
and 1/2 yd had unravelled. They told me to keep that and sent a new perfect order. It was good to have extra because I always find that it is hard to match the braided ends....
Like David Went I love the free shipping if order is more than $35.

Earleen 02-02-2011 09:51 AM

I had the same experience at a Wal-Mart, the electronic person was cutting material and a piece fell out he put in in with the large yardage piece. Your right stash getting larger.

I ordered for the first time from them on Monday and I am waiting for the order. I am pleased to hear good things about them.

Ceil 02-02-2011 11:07 AM

Yes, I love how they are generous with their cuts! Really fair when you think that most of the time fabric isn't straight on the bolt.

memereof8 02-02-2011 12:09 PM

Fabric.com is my #1 online site. Never had a problem, fabric is nice and soft, never shortchanged, and could go on and one. Plus FREE shipping.

Jo Mama 02-02-2011 01:30 PM

They are the best folks to deal with. Great prices for good quality fabric and they deliver SO quickly. I don't care if my fabric is this season's latest - it just has to be pretty to me. Fabric.com does right by me all the time.

dreamer2009 02-02-2011 01:35 PM

yup, I get perfect orders every time and generous cuts even on sale or clearance. I made good use of that last clearance sale...lol

plmaher 02-02-2011 02:27 PM

It's nice to hear about positive experiences instead of just negative ones.
