Thanks for all the info! Can someone give a web site as to where to buy the 60 wt cotton pre-wound bobbins? I'd like to get some - they sound great! One of my biggest pet-peves is to stop sewing to wind a bobbin. I don't know why the manufactures can't make a machine that you can use a full spool of thread for the bottom thread!!

I wouldn't use the pre-wound bobbins that are specifically for embroidery. They do make pre-wounds in 100% cotton for piecing. I love them.

I have an older Viking Quilt Designer and hesitate to use them (you know how picky Viking is about using their own brand of everything!). Anybody out there know about pre-wounds and Viking?

I use them all the time. They come with a cardstock on each side of the bobbin. Just take the sides off and use the thread, then toss the whole thing away at the end. I have a Pfaff 75. I usually get 144 in a box, but have lost my source. Where can I get more?

My 2010- Singer has a bobbin winder. I would have to do more work and take more time to replace the bobbin with a pre wound.
I too use only 100% cotton.

I use Fil-Tec pre-wounds. They are available in cotton and polyester. There are a limited number of neutral colors and the bobbins can be reused, which I do for the times I need specific colors in my bobbin or if I am traveling and don't want to take a spool of thread for binding or hand work, I wind a couple bobbins to carry along...fit into the wallet just fine!

just be sure you know what size and type of thread they are.
I use the signature cotton and it is about a 50wt thread. I can't imagine sewing without them!
Though I am buying some threads now and making my own in different colors!

You can rewind them if you start a little thread on the bobbin by hand first and it works fine but I usually just buy the box of 144 to save time.
