I am just not that needy apparently your "friend" is very needy. There are a lot of people (this list included) out there who will absolutely share encouragement and excitement over your accomplishments. You just need to keep looking, because your friend is waaay more needy that you are. <wave> |
I think people that react this way are very insecure and have low self esteem so I would continue to praise her . I have had a friend like this for many years and in other ways she is wonderful but when it comes to any kind of handwork she acts like this. TO be first and the best is so important to her!
|
I would stop sharing my quilts with her. If she asks why, I would tell her, "It hurts my feelings that you never seem all that excited by my quilts or impressed by my efforts." Lay it out there--she probably doesn't reqalized how rude she is being.

Take it as a compliment, she must be so jealous, that she isn't able to say anything else.
Know in your heart, that your quilts are beautiful. How can you compare? Chocolate or vanilla icecream You can't they are both different, now it comes down to preferences. Show us your quilts and we will give you the praise that they deserve! |
The lower the praise means your quilt is amazing and she cannot top it! Anyways its the quiltboards opinon that matters right 17,000 people can all lie :)

my dear, your friend sounds just like one I had a few years ago.
Since I have always been a very encouraging type friend, it took me a while to finally realize i was in a relationship with a sponge. Someone that soaks it up and doesn't give much of a drip back! I don't say this easily, trust me. I had to walk away from the friendship and that was a first for me. A year and a half later we tried it again...I know...how silly of me, right?...nope, listen to your gut the first time and save yourself the bother of a one sided thing that will suck the life out of you eventually. So sad, that some ppl don't realize how much there is to be gained in life, if your only willing to reciprocate. They end up losing out on a lot. It starts out with a bang, but ends up being the sound of a flat tire. so sorry. |
Show your quilts to people who will appreciate them, rather than this person.

Sounds like one of my co-workers.... literally pouts and sulks if you don't compliment her daily. Heaven forbid you didn't notice she had on new earrings! Gah!!! Don't let her get to you - distance yourself if you find the relationship is a bit toxic to your self-esteem.
I would LOVE to see your quilts! I find I get so much enthusiasm from seeing the love and work others put into these wonderful works of fabric art! |
