I was a puzzle addict before I became a quilt addict...

Christmas tradition.... while my sewing room is used as a guest room, we sit around the table and put puzzles together. Hadn't thought about the connection to quilting, but, I think there must be one!

kari9137 01-04-2011 07:50 PM

I love to do jigsaw puzzles. Do them in the winter when not quilting. I also like crosswrod puzzles

quilt queen 01-04-2011 07:56 PM

Never put the two together, but it does make sense. I just love to put puzzles together, when I quilt I don't want to do anything else, and when I put puzzles together I have the same feeling.

Matilda 01-04-2011 07:57 PM

I do

judi_lynne 01-04-2011 08:16 PM

I love doing jigsaw puzzles as well....ever since I was very young. It's hard to make time right now for both quilting AND puzzles, but I can't wait to retire in a few months and maybe then I can do a puzzle now and then too :D ....maybe

Mariposa 01-04-2011 08:22 PM

I love jigsaw puzzles! Others are fun too!
For something different, put a puzzle together, then put a sealer-like verathane-on it. You can then put it on the wall, or use it under a piece of glass in a coffee table~

brendaln 01-04-2011 08:41 PM

I seem to find quilt pattrns in eerything. My son just got new carpet and I sear it was the rail fence pattern.

OneMoreQuilt 01-04-2011 08:45 PM

I love puzzles but once I start one I have to finish. I have trouble walking away (much the same as starting a quilt or reading a good book) !!

wolf3349 01-04-2011 08:45 PM

I do jigsaw puzzles also.-Just need a break from sewing sometimes.

owlvamp 01-04-2011 09:12 PM

I love doing puzzles too!

Peggy, Your quilt is so cool. How did you get those letters so neatly put in place? I just love your quilt. Did you create it from your own design or was it a pattern? Either way I sure think its great.

Thanks Cynthia! The letters are needle turn applique. I LOVE applique  I started with my nephews name, first and last, that's why you see "Boudreaux" in gold letters, then I just had words that decrribed him and made them all fit!!

Merry Maids......

ajohn52 01-05-2011 08:01 AM

I LOL when I read this. Yes I love jig saw puzzels, crossword puzzels, matching games, etc. I never associated it to quilting, but I guess it makes sense.

wildyard 01-05-2011 09:07 AM

My confession is that I stink at any math beyond the basics. I cannot do even the simplest sudoku puzzles, either. But I rule at jigsaws and crosswords lol.

Must be a direct relationship between quilting and jigsaw puzzles.

If you have all kinds that you have put together, why not donate them to a nursing home or senior citizen home? My mother lived in a high-rise and each floor had a puzzle going all the time. I give mine to a neighbor who takes them to work with her. She works at a nursing home.

Justmetoo 01-05-2011 10:25 AM

Never thought about that! but in thinking about it, yes that does seem to be true. But then women have been known to be creaters of all sorts of things. Lol

galvestonangel 01-05-2011 11:27 AM

I have one started seeting on my coffee table so I can work on it anytime.

4girlsmimi 01-05-2011 11:40 AM

I do. Not much on the seek a words, but love those crosswords.

So sorry, I read this wrong. Please forgive! I do like working puzzles too. Especially with friends and family.

Me too. Horrible at math but great at jigsaws and crosswords. I'm a visual person.

Nana Lynn 01-05-2011 12:57 PM

Had to try the round robin puzzle. Fun.

cjmat 01-05-2011 01:11 PM

I love to do jigsaw puzzles. I get it from my Mom..along with my love of all things crafty. The only thing she never got into was quilting..lol.

ladyredhawk 01-05-2011 01:14 PM

QuiltingNinaSue 01-05-2011 01:16 PM

13 pages and no one mentioned Rebecca Barker quiltscapes puzzles...wow. I have them hanging in my hallway by the quilt room. She also has couple of books on the quilts that I also own. I put them together, glue them and my husband frames them and hangs them for me. Love her site http://www.barkerquiltscapes.com

Annaquilts 01-05-2011 01:18 PM

I do and so do my children and husband. We have two large puzzles laying out right now tha tpeople are working on and we did about 5 over the last couple of weeks. When they are done DH uses puzzle glue and the kids take turns picking out one for themselves to hang up. Guests that worked on them get the finnished puzzle pictures too.

Judie 01-05-2011 03:03 PM

Love them.. can't leave one alone once it's out of the box!

I had never heard of this before, but when I went to the site, I was totally blown away. I saved it to visit often.

I love to do puzzles too, but right now I have kind of stocked up on some. I love the ones with quilt pictures. I got one for Christmas this year from my DGD, & it has 2000 pieces, so it wont fit on my card table. So will have to use the kitchen table & use the card table to eat at.
