How many of you quilters like to do jigsaw puzzles? It must be in our blood the need to put things together.

Murphy 01-03-2011 02:54 PM

I do, I do, I do.

Unique Creations 01-03-2011 02:56 PM

I too have noticed that there seems to be a connection between the two. My Granny, who passed on her love of handwork and quilting to me, also gave me my love of jigsaw puzzles. Very interesting!!

I do the Sunday Ny Times crossword

Love to do them, especially quilty or fabric or yarn ones. Every year at Christmas my GS and I do one, somehow missed that this year. But jigsaws means time away from sewing.

Quiltforme 01-03-2011 03:10 PM

LOVE them!!

Colorful Quilter 01-03-2011 03:13 PM

Sometimes I think of getting my quilt blocks into a quiltop as a giant jigsaw puzzle

chattykathy17 01-03-2011 03:14 PM

I love them. Don't have the space. It's either sewing or puzzles. We tend to do them on family vacations as well. My dad always has had a jigsaw going.

sosewcrazy 01-03-2011 03:20 PM

Love 'em!

Midwestmary 01-03-2011 03:28 PM

Love puzzles! Jane Wooster Scott is my favorite - I've done a bunch of hers - glued them and they currently reside under a bed...hmmm....

Maggiesmom 01-03-2011 03:28 PM

I love to have a puzzle going in Jan and Feb as diversion. Sometimes I just need a different kind of puzzle to put together.

Quilter7x 01-03-2011 03:29 PM

I must be the odd-ball, because I don't do puzzles. But I sure love to quilt!

Makes a Beautiful picture... i have done 3 this way for my American native theme in my Family room..Unless you are close you can't tell they are puzzles.. BillsBonBon

happymrs 01-03-2011 03:55 PM

I love them too! Just wish I could leave one laying out to work on sometimes. I try to find ones online to do whenever I can, love them!

I love to work jigsaw puzzles and have noticed over the years since I have been quilting, that a lot of quilters like to work them. There is definitely a connection, and rightfully so. When you think about it, the two are much the same, except a puzzle can only go together one way, and you are working in different mediums. I once knew a woman who lived to be 96 years old, who quilted every day of her life, and worked jigsaw puzzles every night of her life. When she passed away, her home was filled with the things she loved most.......beautiful quilts and puzzles !

leakus 01-03-2011 03:58 PM

before I started quilting, I enjoyed doing jig saw puzzles. Now I just piece fabric... :)

StitchinJoy 01-03-2011 04:44 PM

No jigsaws. I'd rather sew or read.

KwiltyKahy 01-03-2011 04:47 PM

I love puzzles. I have several the decorate my sewing room walls.

I love doing jigsaws. When I am FMQ, I am drawing jigsaw puzzle pieces. That is what helped me to learn to do the FMQ. I just sew like I am drawing the pieces when I am stippling or meandering.

LindaZ 01-03-2011 05:33 PM

Love to do puzzles. I started doing them long before i started quilting. I especially like doing them when its winter and snowing outside. I can sit and watch the snow and feel all snug inside.

Thumbelina 01-03-2011 05:38 PM

Love doing puzzles. Last one I made was of all the light houses. After a while they all seemed to look alike.

I don't like jigsaws -- there's only one right place to put each piece. I love quilting, because there is always a different variation, another solution, some little fix for what you didn't like. To me, it's a completely different mental process.

I have loved jigsaw puzzles since I was a little girl. My hubby and I did one over New Year's that was stamps. Lots of fun.

sueisallaboutquilts 01-03-2011 06:50 PM

Strange that you should post that, I have a Norman Rockwell on the dining room table right now. It was the one with the Boston Red Sox.

I love to do jigsaw puzzles, especially in the winter. I find it to be very relaxing.

buckyfan19 01-03-2011 07:25 PM

My DH and I LOVE doing puzzles together! We are currently working on the worlds largest puzzle... 24000 pieces. I am not sure how that will work with a 15 month old boy running around this year, but we are determined to finish it this year. Also, I have gotten him and his co-worker hooked on the jigsaw puzzle of the day on msnbc.com!
