I have several mats and the large Fiskar mat was showing lots of wear and changing the blade on my rotary cutter really didn't solve the problem. So I cleaned the mat with a Mr. Clean white sponge and then took extremely fine sandpaper to it in a circular motion---something I learned while helping my son sand down primer before painting a car. Then I cleaned it extremely well with a clean sponge. Made a huge difference.

Just a thought.....

The mats aren't easy to cut but they make great purse and tote bottoms. At first I saved my used mats but there are only so many uses for them. I change mats often so I don't save them. If I saved everything that could be reused I'd have a mess to store.

I worked at a quilt shop and agree that the mat wears out where you repeatedly cut fabric, ours wore out the most at 18 inch mark
