Doesn't seem fair to me. I would be looking elsewhere next time a repair was needed.

If it was the same problem that needed fixed again, the repair person should do it again at no cost. That happened to me once with my dryer. The first time it got fixed, the repair lasted less than a week. The person came and repaired it again, and it has been over 6 years now still working (knocking on wood!)...something must not have been fixed correctly, or completely.
Good luck!

My local repair people will see the problem and the re-repair free except for any new parts.

Guess you know where NOT to take your machine next time. You can also put the word out if the LQS or where you had your machine repaired doesn't do it this way. Word of mouth is the best & worst advertising they can get.

Had this similar situation with an authorized dealer. Mom and I had purchased machines and fabrics there for well over 40 years. I sold the machine with full disclosure and switched brands because of this dealer. They are losing their reputation and if someone asks why I now have vintage and Bernina machines I tell them. Bet you are not the only one they treated this way. I sure wasn't.
