I love the first pattern and in different fabrics they would look different! As others have said: it depends if you get bored making the same bloch over and over. Also, may be your aunts with their different personalities and tastes would like to have something different from what the other one would have. As Tink's Mom said by doing the first you will see how you feel about the other one: same or different. Both patterns are nice and they will love it for sure.

what is the name of the second quilt? I would like to make that one with some charm packs I have been saving. Not too good yet with the hst

I agree with Tink's Mom, get started on one and see who it's suited to best. By the end of that one you will know what to do for the other.

Different people should get different gifts based on the tastes of the recipient and the skill of the quilter.

Find patterns you are comfortable making that you think they would enjoy. Pick fabric for each person. If the quilts don't have to share a room, there is no need for them to coordinate.

Love both of those!! It would be hard to choose.

When you normally give them home made gifts, are they similar, just in different colors? I would stick with what you normally do, only with the quilts. Good luck with your decision.

I also have 2 aunts (sisters) who live very close and are in constant contact with each other. I made 2 sets each of mug rugs and placemats. I had to laugh when they called me to say they really liked their sets. They swapped one set each. That way they had their own set and didn't have to carry back and forth. They also liked the fact all they had to do was hand wash them, then let dry overnight or lay in front of a window to dry. I used a piece of muslin for the batting. They just think those mats were terrific. Couple of their kids would like sets also but I told them it was a quick little in the middle of the night couldn't sleep kind of thing and didn't really have time since I have so many other eggs in the basket and things on my plates.
