I had to make that lattice one. It turned out really well. I did it in Valencia layer cake, peaches, greens, tans with cream lattice. But again, I would do two different ones. They will feel special and you won't get bored!!

I really like both patterns. I have made two sisters the same pattern but different colorway and they both really liked them. I am glad you are feeling better. Have fun doing the quilts. As someone said they will love them what ever you do because they will know that it was done with love. BrendaK

I would make them different. By the time I finish one quilt, I am tired of it and want to start something new.

Lately I have found that I am spending a bit more time on my backing - getting creative. Since the 2 aunts are close, I would do something on the back to tie them together. Perhaps a couple small squares of the other quilt or a small border. One thing I'm doing often is making a couple coin rows of all the bits left over and inserting them in the backing to enlarge it. This might be a way to pay homage to the other quilt. It would not distract from the quilt top but might give the aunts a little smile knowing it is there.

I would make a quilt that would suit each individual aunt, given their different personality. They are both very pretty quilts.

I would choose my two favorite patterns and make them both different quilts. They are two special individuals who would just love, I am sure, a special gift from you.

I think I figured out what to do.....
I'm going to do quilt #1 (the Lattice Quilt) for Aunt #1 (the fru-fru one) using this layer cake: I just need to figure out what color to do the lattice in. Aunt #2 (the non-fru-fru one) is going to get quilt #2 using this jelly roll: Each color-way matches their respective living rooms. I've got all the stuff sitting in an online cart, just waiting to hit the "submit" button. Lol. I'm scared to do it though. I don't know why, but I am  |
The second colorway looks more traditionally feminine to me.

Making two different quilts for two opposite types is the answer I would give. Have fun and they are so lucky to get a quilt from a wonderful niece!

I say go with both! I like both patterns.
