Thanks for all the replies to my question. Yet another reason why I like this Board so much....so willing to help out. I don't know what I'm going to do with the fabric yet....just look at and touch for a while....let it age a bit. Didn't my son do a good job picking it out for me? BTW, he also found a small pair of vintage Solingen scissors for me at a flea market in one of the small towns. They're old but still super sharp. I had researched Solingen, Germany earlier and learned that they manufacture some of the best cutlery in the world. I can well believe that judging from the several I have.

Your son did grrrreat! I'm surprised that quilting was not in his vocabulary. When I visited my family a month ago, I made sure that quilting terms were part of the discussion. lol

Oh, he's well versed in quilting matters and has been for years. He's well aware of the work involved and takes very good care of the ones I've made for him. It was just translating that into German that threw him. He's brought back fabric for me from all over the world...I have some gorgeous Thai silks and Indonesian batiks from years past. He retired from the Navy four years ago and doesn't get abroad nearly as often now but he always brings back the neatest presents.

Beautiful fabrics. I wish there was a conversion chart for prices and yardage. Your son did a fantastic job. Better he was there than me... I would have a serious problem getting fabric back home.... lol

Those fabrics are so pretty. I am encouraged about finding some fabrics in Germany One of two of my Pfaff machines are from there. In a few weeks, I will be traveling there and of course, want to purchase fabrics. I got some beautiful ones from Alaska last year.
