Woah, i had two done with a large meandering for $80.00 plus. and there were clipped threads on both of them about 1/3 of the quilt where she'd made mistakes. she "let" me pick those out!!!
anything you are not happy with, talk to the long arm quilter about.

Oh my goodness. I feel so bad for you. I think you should take them back and ask her if this was her first job. If it is I would offer to stay and help her. That way she might be a little less intimidated by an unhappy client. Some times its better to go into a situation like this with honey in hopes that a second chance will be all she needed and then never use her again. If you loose your temper she may just close the door and you will have to pay for somebody else to fix it.

I am so sorry that this happen to you. I know I would sit down and cry and then be angry and then gather myself up and remember to be nice just to get what I paid for.

If you cant get her to fix the wrong just remind her that word of mouth can also work against her.

So what if she gets mad. You're angry, too, & you have a right to be angry. That will tell you all you need to know about her. If her work looks that bad, you should stand firm & request some of your $ back. That is so sad.

I can't remember if you said you met her AT your QS or thru your QS but you might mention it to the owner so she won't ever recommend her to anybody else.

I am a longarm quilter,for customers, and I would not settle for the work she did. The money she charged you was way out of the ball park for what she did. The leaves are okay for me. If you had been happy with everything else the leaves would probably not bothered you. Take it back!!!!

I would take it back and ask her to fix it. If a quilter runs out of thread and needs to use a different color, you should tell the client and ask her if she can wait while you order the proper thread color or if a color that is very close would be all right to use. A quilter shouldn't use white thread if she ran out of maroon!!!:shock: And a quilter should not give a quilt with bird's nest and loose threads to a customer AND charge her for it!!!

Depending on the sizes of your quilts, for the quilting she did, she's very expensive. It looks like she just did an all-over pattern, which should cost you .015 cents per square inch. I've charged more than that for 1 quilt but it was totally custom, block, sash, border specific for a large (100 x 100) quilt.

Definitely take them back.

I have had 11 quilts done by professional quilters, one uses a long arm and one is a genius on a normal sewing machine. I have paid between $80 to $220 for a single quilt, depending on size and design. I have never had anything come back that looked as bad as yours. I cannot imagine even paying for the quilting done on either quilts, I could manage either myself, and that's not saying much.

i agree, with the majority, I would take them BOTH back and tell her that after closer inspection......and ask her to fix / re-do them. Or refund your money.

You certainly do have the right to request that she complete the job as to your original request and she should be respectful enough to complete her obligation to you whether she is an accomplished quilter or not. Tell us her name or at least the shop. Maybe in time she will get better but maybe she should practice on her own quilts and not charge others for her work until she is more proficient.
