I have a quilt loaded on my longarm and am pondering how to quilt it. In the interim, I started working on a UFO, finally putting the blocks together. My dear hubby walked by and said I couldn't start another one until I finished the one on the frame. Funny man. I asked if he was the quilt police, and he said yes! Ahem, I set him straight!

Grama Lehr 02-04-2011 08:58 AM

 Good for you!! 8-)

My Hubster tried to tell me that a couple of times. I thought he was pretty funny too! Even funnier when he tells me I can't buy any fabric til I use what I have. :D

littlehud 02-04-2011 09:03 AM

Ask to see his badge. :-D :-D :-D :-D No quilt police here. Go ahead and start your new one.

sewdarnbusy 02-04-2011 09:04 AM

Cute story!!!! Do you really expect him to understand? They just don't get it. In a logical world, yes we should start and finish each project. But in a creative world, we have to be in the mood for each creative expression.

dkabasketlady 02-04-2011 09:18 AM

He's so funny!! At least mine doesn't tell me this(it wouldn't do him any good anyway, lol!!!).

moonwork42029 02-04-2011 09:22 AM

Smile...say "yes dear", touch his arm lightly and turn back around doing whatever you want...

QuiltnCowgirl 02-04-2011 09:23 AM

Thankfully my husband has no comprehension of what is or isn't a project. He just knows it is some fabric. Thank goodness because right now I have about 5 projects ongoing - from a full size quilt down to blocks for a soldier's quilt. This is one area I don't need him policeing (sp). :)

Raggiemom 02-04-2011 09:24 AM

LOL!

EIQuilter 02-04-2011 09:34 AM

Let us know if he gets serious about this and we have to come bail you out.

The Creative Seamstress 02-04-2011 09:38 AM

My husband only plays the quilt police about one project that I have yet to start and everytime he asks me about it I tell him that each time he asks me, the longer the penalty phase becomes before I eventually start it - I am well aware of my own UFO and USP list ("Unstarted Projects"). Then I tell him to go play policeman anywhere else OUTSIDE my sewing room, LOL.

Explosive blessings, abundance and inspiration to you all!

Thats funny! it's a well known fact in my house "yes dear" has an COMPLETELY different meaning!

LOL thats just too funny. I have been lucky and DH tries to not even look at what is going on and what I have because he knows if he says anything I can list things he has started and not finished..... and he doesn't like to be reminded of those LOL

dixiebelle162002 02-04-2011 10:15 AM

Women rule!

amma 02-04-2011 10:16 AM

LOL I would be adding cooking his meals and washing his clothes to my UFO list too  :D:D:D

quiltlonger 02-04-2011 10:46 AM

I say "shall we walk to the gun cabinet?" NO, not to shoot somebody: just he can only shoot one at a time.. so why does he need so many???? Case and point!:):)

Cheshire Cat 02-04-2011 10:54 AM

Funny, My husband said that to me when I was working on my BOM while my dd's wedding quilt is on the frame. He dosen't realize that hand quilting a king size quilt is not a quick few days.

He's a retired deputy sheriff, so he has a badge. But, it isn't a quilt police badge.

Oooooh, this is good. I'm going to remember this.

pkary 02-04-2011 11:58 AM

My DH ties fishing flys and has a stash of fur, feathers, hooks and threads that makes my fabric piles look really tiny. He would NEVER dare try the quilt police comments!

pab58 02-04-2011 12:19 PM

Well, it was so nice of you to help him out in his confused state of mind!!

Well said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dina 02-04-2011 03:59 PM

Ha! Audrey is my sister and I can guarantee that when he told her she had to finish one project before she started another, there was a big smile on his face! All he has to do is look in her quilt studio and he would know there were several projects going on. :)

laurac 02-04-2011 05:32 PM

what kind of trouble did he get in for impersonating the police..
i guess you told him any self respecting quilter is likely to have several projects going at one time.

OneMoreQuilt 02-04-2011 05:48 PM

Did you remind him that women are capable of multi-tasking?

GGrammie 02-05-2011 03:33 AM

Audrey...I love your attitude in life and in quilting.
I often wonder why we love them...lol

tmg 02-05-2011 03:39 AM

I know the felling

lisalovesquilting 02-05-2011 03:51 AM

I was making a dedication quilt for the church. My DH walks in and says "What are you making?" I said, A baby quilt. You should have seen the look on his face! For a few seconds he was very scared! lol

Perfect!

AudreyB - Your kitty is absolutely gorgeous - tell me her name has something to do with her ink blot face!

sustraley 02-05-2011 04:14 AM

Aren't husbands just so cute?? My husband washes and dries my fabrics. That way I tell him he is part of each quilting project. He has even helped me with "designs". He complains, but in a joking way. I think I will keep him.

Quilting, gardening and my fur babies are my therapy in life,so my hubby knows better than to say anything. (He's tried)

pumpkinpatchquilter 02-05-2011 04:53 AM

I think we should tell some of these Husbands that they can't buy anymore power tools until they build something! ;) Lol*
