Nice shop. Got to visit back in 2007, while on a cruise.Got a quilt kit featuring an otter. SOOO cute!

Great batiks! We went to Alaska this summer and went to that shop too. I had already bought a bunch of fabrics (batiks too) at the shop in wasilla Alaska so I only bought a Christmas tree ornament for myself and my sister. Lol. I just wanted to buy something in a quilt shop in Skagway. Oh I also bought a magnetic wooden thing to hold a needle or pin near your machine.

Beautiful Fabrics.....Great Husband...

Lisa Moore lives in Sitka and designs a lot of patterns using Alaska batiks and other Alaska fabrics. I went to both stores in Juneau this last May and bought a bunch of the same fabrics you bought. Go to www.quiltswithatwist.com and you find quite a few patterns that use large centers that preserve the images. Some of them are even free downloadable patterns.

Oh, what lovely fabrics!
I like to make quilts out of various squares, when I just want to show off the fabric. I do multiples of the smallest block size so they can all fit together (so maybe I'd do a blend of 2", 4" & 8" together; and if I really like the fabric I'd probably leave a block or two up to 10" or 12"), and I usually sketch it out on graph paper to make sure I have a sensible way to assemble it. It's pretty simple, sews up fast, and leaves enough fabric intact that I can still enjoy the original patterns. |
I've been there too and it's a great shop. There mail order service is good too. Lovely chosen fabrics.

I was there 2 yrs ago. Didn't have time to shop so just bought a kit. Had a great time making it and it hangs in my living room . It is autum colors with the bald eagle applicaded on top.
So glad you had more time. |
Those are beautiful batiks! Can hardly wait for the finished project.
