quick and easy, down and dirty tablecloth cover is the clear thin plastic dropcloths they sell for painting projects. they are big, decent coverage, and when you clear the table, it gets rolled up with the debris in it and tossed! it makes life simpler, usually for 99 cents...

I just donated ALL of my scraps to a lady who is just one step from homeless and was wishing she could make her two great-granddaughters quilts. It felt so good to give her a very large plastic bag filled with various sizes. The smile on her face was priceless. Now to make new scraps. Our lqs had tablecloths on all the tables. They look so warm and inviting. Go for it!

I have a quilt on my dining table and have never had a problem. I also like table runners and toppers. The only difference to my bed quilts and cuddle lap quilts is that I use a thinner batting.

The only thing I think of with a quilt as tablecloth is what will happen when gravy or kool aid gets spilled on it.

Cant you put a clear cloth over it so nothing spills on it. I
remember someone on here doing that a while back, can't remember the thread though

I started a "Dear Jane" quilt with the gals here a while back in red, white & blue for my table on the 4th of July. If I ever get it done............I planned to cover it with a clear vinyl.

I've made 2 table cloths out of a quilt! They turned out great.

if you live in the US and there's a Dollar Tree near you, you can get their product called AWESOME that takes every stain imaginable out. I've never had a problem with anything staining my tablecloth quilts.

I'm making a quilted tablecloth, now. But since I'm so messy I'm making sure all of it is washable.

Our WalMart still sells several different thicknesses of clear vinyl on a roll. Also vinyl "lace" in beige or white that you could use as a table cloth under the quilt and remove the quilt during meals.

I love the look of quilted fabric on a sunny table but I tend to use a table runner rather than a tablecloth--and remove it when the little ones visit. One spill and all that work is ruined.

I made one using Thermore batting so it was thinner and it draped really well. Looks nice on my table, too!
