there is a good tute in this forum too that adds strips to each block, front and back, if you prefer that method.

Do a search for the disappearing 4 patch. It makes an 8" block then you cut your batting and backing just alittle larger then do what ever quilting on the 4 patch.

I've done quilt as you go using the log cabin pattern. Use same methods that are discribed in the tutorials. I stitched by hand, but one could machine stitch. Cut the backing an inch larger than the finished block for seam allowance when joining the blocks on the back.

I learned the method taught in the book Crazy Shortcut Quilts.
Although I don't make crazy quilts, I use their QAYG method. I've taught this method to the ladies in my quilting group with great success! |
