Ohiobuckeye- I did that this past year and it felt so good! I gave away or sold lots of fabric that I knew I would never use and haven't missed one thing. I now can actually see what I have and am enjoying it!
My resolution is to get better at FMQ. I've been working on it and finally seeing some improvement. Yay!
I also want to finish some UFO's of course!

Yes. My oldest likes to think that she can parent me at times. I just remind her that it's my house and I'll do what I want, if she wants to give orders she can go home and do it at her house.

One quilt guild I belong to has a sale room at our annual quilt show. It's a great way to declutter once a year. I also plan to make a list of my UFOs. I really do want to finish them and I think a list will help. But I've also already signed up for 2 BOMs. And I want to get an appliqué quilt going. !

Well, I’ll definitely finish some UFO’s-mainly because I will need the storage containers they are in for the future UFO’s that Are currently covering every inch of horizontal space in my studio :D

Oh, so much to do and so little time. That is always where I find myself at the end of a year. Then I make new goals for the next year. I ask myself it I did better last year than the year before. Then, I tell myself that I can do better than that next year. I love what I do in my sewing space and find happiness and joy there. I like to reorganize a few things because they get out of order even though I try to keep things tidy. On January 1, I like to move forward. I am like that with the rest of the house-I want the Christmas stuff gone and 'back to normal'.

This sounds like a doable life. My sewing room is out of control and I am going to try it too. (If I stayed off the computer it would probably not be such a problem) Wish me luck.
I am also going to try not to feel guilty about the UFOs.

I was in a group "12 in 12" and I really got so much more focused and finished things I started. The group is over now but I am planning my list for this year. I will go through my fabrics and donate what I won't use and.
Will make donation quilts from my scraps. I did that last year and it is so much fun to have an empty scrap pile. That will take all of January to accomplish.

We are moving this next year so I have been purging and donating my fabric and UFOs. The last few years I find I use more precuts then yardage. Some yardage I have hasn't been used in years so why keep it. I machine quilt my quilts and like to use wide backing. I don't like to piece backing so I don't.

I was thinking of my sewing goals for 2018 also. I didn’t do well this year on my UFO’s. I had 2 a year ago and never finished them and I added at least one more this year. However, I did go through orphan blocks that were donated or from my sewing projects and organized them by size. I used quite a few in scrappy tops which were given to my church group to sandwich and finish.

My goals:

Finish my 3 known UFO’s

Continue to go through my blue scrap fabric bins and iron, measure, and put the scraps in appropriate sized bags.
( like 2”, 3”, etc). I have lots of scraps that have been donated by my church group or the baby charity where I volunteer and it’s time to get them organized so it’s easier to grab a size I want and cut. After the blue bins, I will choose another color.

Go through my quilting books, magazines, and paper patterns and decide to donate, keep, or recycle(paper patterns).

Thankfully---and I mean that from the bottom of my heart----I do not have UFOs. I started quilting when the internet was already several years old. I read about them and thought that is not for me. If I lose interest in a project I just pass it along and sometimes that means into a dog bed pile of scraps or the Goodwill.

I belong to a charity group that receives huge donations of fabric for various reasons. I must resist bringing so much home with me. I also have friends who give me fabric as they love to see it sewn into charity quilts. This is a good problem to have but my sewing space is very small.

I also decided not to save scraps any more. It takes me much longer to sew a top with scraps than yardage. I don't want to pass away leaving beautiful fabric on shelves while I sewed little pieces into quilts.
