I sure hope they find those quilts

bjeriann 07-20-2011 06:23 PM

Hope they turn up. Would hate to think someone took them.

sjscribe 07-20-2011 06:26 PM

:( I am saddened to learn about these beautiful missing quilts.

Summer Spice 07-20-2011 06:30 PM

This is heart breaking, I hope they turn up soon.

OneMoreQuilt 07-20-2011 06:30 PM

That's awful.

Divokittysmom 07-20-2011 06:34 PM

That just breaks my heart. I pray those quilts will be found.

Tartan 07-20-2011 06:36 PM

So sad! I hope they turn up soon.

lscho4jm 07-20-2011 06:37 PM

Hopefully, they were put in the wrong box/stack or sent to the wrong place by mistake and whoever has them doesn't realize it.

How sad though.

QuiltnNan 07-20-2011 06:44 PM

i would hate to think that someone took them. i can't even imagine what one would do with a quilt that has been published as missing. i prefer to think that they were misplaced and will turn up.

alikat110 07-20-2011 06:55 PM

How dreadful!

pipp5 07-20-2011 06:55 PM

How awful!

blueangel 07-20-2011 06:57 PM

So sad. Hope they find them

Ramona Byrd 07-20-2011 07:15 PM

What a terrible thing to have happened to these works of art. Just thinking of the time, talent, love and energy it took to make them, plus the money, it must be heart breaking to the owners.

That's why my ex-cops brother and son both are passionate about having surveillance cameras in such situations.

And was it here I read that someone had lost a couple of quilts that they had stuffed into black garbage bags at a show...later found them missing and thought they were probably picked up by cleaning crew, who most likely tossed them into a garbage truck.

Hope these lovely works of art are able to come home again.

Quiltmaniac2010 07-20-2011 07:24 PM

That is just dreadful!! I sure hope that they turn up packed in a box by mistake!

moonwork42029 07-20-2011 08:04 PM

Hopefully they are sitting somewhere safe and will be back to their owners soon with this all just being a packing issue. So very sad.

At least the company has owned up to the missing items and isn't just glossing it over...well done on their behalf.

amandasgramma 07-20-2011 08:23 PM

That's awful!!! I hope they put something in the newspapers to get everyone's attention!!!!!

QuiltnLady1 07-20-2011 08:51 PM

This is so terrible to happen to anyone. Hopefully they turn up, but there are a lot of missing quilts out there.

wanda lou 07-20-2011 09:13 PM

how sad.

Jim's Gem 07-20-2011 09:32 PM

That's terrible!! I sure hope that they find these quilts soon!

Launie 07-20-2011 09:41 PM

That just makes me sick. I sure hope they can locate them...

luvTooQuilt 07-20-2011 10:55 PM

That is terrible news, I hope they are in a crate that was slow in getting to its destination... I feel for the quilt owners, I cannot imagine how they feel..

Yooper32 07-21-2011 02:46 AM

How very, very sad that this could happen. Let's hope it is all a mistake and that the container is just strayed off course somewhere.

christina d 07-21-2011 02:49 AM

I hope they find them I would be so upset if my work went missing they are beautiful quilts

:XD: Ditto. BrendaK

QuiltingSister 07-21-2011 03:11 AM

Thanks for letting us all know...sure hope they are found! It's hard to believe that a quilter would take them - hope it was just an oversight somewhere in the busy-ness of the quilt show...

patchsamkim 07-21-2011 03:22 AM

I sure hope the quilts are found...and that they weren't taken by someone...but that they are in "hiding" and will show up somewhere...how heartbroken the makers must be.

Debbie C 07-21-2011 03:29 AM

my feelings exactly. If someone actually did take them, how could they ever really enjoy owning them.

sueisallaboutquilts 07-21-2011 03:35 AM

I sure hope they are merely misplaced. What an awful thing!

Extreme Quilter 07-21-2011 03:40 AM

It's a nightmare come true. I'm hoping for a happy ending somewhere down the road.

susie-susie-susie 07-21-2011 04:35 AM

That is terrible. Hope everyone is right and they were just shipped to the wrong person and will turn up. There is a good reason that you shouldn't put things into black garbage bags to transport them. Someone comes along and thinks it is garbage. Had a friend who was going on a cruise and had a whole new wardrobe in a garbage bag, and her mom threw it out. Hope they find the quilts.

Just can't believe that people are like that. I guess I am too trusting and yet I have had numerous things stolen from me.
Hopefully, if they were taken, the quilts will be returned. I do not understand how someone can enjoy stolen goods.

gramarraine 07-21-2011 05:25 AM

I have a friend who along with her daughter has published many patterns and a few books. They go to quilt market each spring and fall and a couple of years ago they lost (or had stolen) one container of quilts. I think they lost 4 quilts also. It is very sad to think someone would steal those quilts but they were beautiful and some people do not give it a second thought about taking what they want. I hope C&T get their quilts back but doubt they will. My friends kept thinking they would get their quilts back but never did.

Riverton Quilter 07-21-2011 05:39 AM

I am wondering if they checked for a missing crate? Did they get all that they shipped. I would also see if the trade show people should be questioned. I feel bad that this happened and especially in Salt Lake City where I live.

Nell 07-21-2011 05:49 AM

It's a shame, but it's not the first time I've read about a quilt, or quilts, being stolen during a Quilt Show.

quilter in the making 07-21-2011 05:55 AM

So disheartening. Hard for me to believe a "quilter" would be able to steal and enjoy stolen quilts knowing how much time and love goes into a quilt. In my opinion, it would have to be a wanna be quilter who doesn't have a clue. A quilter would not be able to look at the quilts and find any enjoyment at all in them. I hope they're just missing and turn up soon. So sad.

countrycottage 07-21-2011 06:02 AM

That's awful! Hope they find them.

lindy 07-21-2011 06:10 AM

If just one was missing, I would think theft. With 4 missing, I think misplaced. I certainly hope that is the case. Whichever happened, it is a terrible situation.

flowerjoy 07-21-2011 06:28 AM

This is so sad... it would be nice if they were simply misplaced... but unfortunately it may also be theft... more security guards may be necessary for such events as in art museums... some of the art quilts are pretty valuable works.
