I saw an amazing wall somewhere in a restaurant in NM years ago that was purple and orange---
Really slapped you in the eye, but gorgeous, like a sunset.
What about a D9P?

that's exactly what I was thinking. A D9P I think it would be very pretty. You could strip it with white if needed.

I was thinking DWR might work, as each ring could be shades of purple on one and shades of orange for the other and then a w-o-w for the melons and centers. Would this work, ya think? I really think it's only gonna "work" if the colors were seperated like that instead of together like in a rail fence. I don't wanna use sashing to keep em apart either. I have searched here and all over the net but can't find purple and orange together in a quilt without black(halloween) or just the 2 of them. I suggested a green or yellow based of the color wheel and she said nope, just white but only if you must. gah!! help..???

Purple and orange are great Fall colors! Purple, orange and green make a triangle on the color wheel (and therefore make a complete color scheme!) A bit of green leaves in a print would be enough to really make the color scheme sparkle! Set with cream and you've got a recipe for a gorgeous quilt!

I recently started an orange and purple quilt.... I also added green and a dark dotted fabric with the three colors also did it in a D9P. I love it! It IS bright, but definitely pretty. :D

I have to assemble the blocks, but sadly it no longer has a home, so it will stay in the UFO pile for a time.

Good luck with the project!

I think the bow tie is great, two colors and so easy, Say white and purple for tie and orange to slash.... actually I think they are great colors. lol, (granddaughter also likes them) IF you didn't want a 3rd color here a person would not need to. I think a better stand out for show... lol

just wanted to add, When doing the Bow Tie you can make the center of bow smaller. (I like it better)

A pin wheel pattern would work well with no sashing. I had a request for bright purple and neon green for a teenage girl. It turned out beautiful. Not colors I would use on my own, but I can appreciate the contrast in the finished quilt.
