Here's what I have begun doing with each of my foot pedals and it really works. I turn it a quarter turn to the left and brace it against my left foot. I can then use my right foot on the go button and any moving that's done is controled by both feet. It keeps me very centered and aligned with my machine.

Yep...that's what I do, too.

Velcro works great if you have carpet like I do.

Does your Janome have the start/stop button? It is just below the reverse button on mine. Unplug your pedal and use the start/stop button. I have two food pedals for my two Janomes and don't use them at all. So much handier and I have better control of my sewing this way. I could never keep mine where I could reach it. I tried all of the above methods and none of them worked. The start/stop button is different than the on/off switch.

I use the latex/silicone cabinet liner. It gives the petal someting to grip. works on my carpet or new floor mat

I use what looks like rubber shelf liner, but it's made to use under carpets so the carpets won't slip. I happen to have some extra.
I wrapped my foot pedal in it, secured with safety pins so it made a nice bundle. The foot pedal stays right where it should. I'm sure the rubber shelf liner works just as well.

Double sided mounting tape. I tried the shelf liner and it still scooted around for me. This tape is like a little piece of squishy styrofoam with sticky tape on each side. My foot control is slightly recessed on the bottom so regular double sided carpet tape wouldn't have made contact with the floor. I had this other tape already and it works perfectly. Ann in TN

I use this and it works perfectly. No more chasing the foot pedal around.
