For fun and relaxation. My quilts aren't the best, so I know I could never sell them. But my family enjoys them, I think.

I quilt for fun. It also lets me be creative even though I can not draw, paint or sculpt. I do give most as gifts because seriously, how many quilts can one house have and I don't have to worry if my Husband like it or not.

Fun, sanity and a sense of continuing an American Historic craft/art.

Don't you find quilting a calming thing when you need to just go in, cut fabric and loss yourself in the patterns and colors? Sure there are times of ripping seams etc, but on a whole --- it is a beautiful calm oasis for me.

It's definitely a hobby! I already have a job. I make a LOT of gifts, several for charity and I do the occasional one for profit. Most of the time it's just because I want to and it's my therapy!

For Fun

Sewing is a passion. I learned to sew as a young child with Grandma and with Mother, my two favorite women in my whole world. I think sewing and hearing the machine purr remind me of those special days. I make quilts for charity at a little church nearby. Part of the ministry is helping/teaching ladies that were expert in quilting years ago and now due to health considerations & not keeping with the newest methods they love me to demo new tools and how tos. Very low key, just friend sharing with a friend. I learn so much from them, also. We have a annual bazaar and sometimes a raffle to sell our items and put all the money made into the church operating budget. Little church struggles to make the bills so we are delighted to be able to help.

I enjoy it. I like to gives them as gifts. And it's a stress reliever, very calming most of the time. It has gotten me through some difficult times. Mostly, I like creating, and creating something useful.

Definitely for sanity, I like the challenge, and the sense of pride and accomplishment that goes into making each quilt, even though they are not perfect. They usually end up as gifts for family and close friends.
