Remember the lime green shashing?

2 Attachment(s)
Remember I had posted on here a few days ago asking opinions on my shashing choice of lime green? Well hubby (and everybody else) thought it didn't go. So now I am asking what everybody thinks of this blue I have. Before I go cutting it up what does everybody think about this blue color for the shashing? I think it looks okay. But I'm still not sure.

After:

looking at it after I uploaded it to the computer it definitely looks much better then the green. What are your thoughts?

Prism99 03-17-2014 09:12 AM

I like the blue. It does change the "feel" of the quilt to vintage/traditional. The lime green (because it is a solid and bright) made the quilt look more modern. I think the blue sashing goes better with the blocks, which are also more on the traditional side than modern.

Tartan 03-17-2014 09:15 AM

I like the blue better. I liked the lime green but the intensity of it overwhelmed the blocks.

isewman 03-17-2014 09:16 AM

I like the blue, also. A lot better, with the blue. In away, it goes with the blue in your blocks also. With the lime green. It seems to stand out at me. Itseems to take away from your block. Go with the blue

Dispatchgirl 03-17-2014 09:22 AM

I feel the same way Tartan.

Prism I feel like I lean more towards the look of "modern" quilts then traditional. But the lime just wasn't working. Maybe on my next project I can use up those lime pieces on a modern quilt :)

I prefer the blue. It has a calming effect on me. The green is a little too bright for the blocks.

nativetexan 03-17-2014 09:24 AM

Hate to admit it, but the blue looks great!!!

Dispatchgirl 03-17-2014 09:28 AM

Oh this is wonderful! Thank you all so much! I'm usually not this indecisive. Maybe its because this is a new hobby for me :)

Doggramma 03-17-2014 09:31 AM

That blue fabric really pulls the blocks together. Great choice!

feline fanatic 03-17-2014 09:33 AM

I like the blue better as well. Not to completely throw you off but have you considered a pale pink? The same pale pink that is in blue print in the blocks? A solid will give the quilt a more modern appearance.

quiltsRfun 03-17-2014 09:40 AM

I like the blue better.

quiltstringz 03-17-2014 09:40 AM

That blue goes really nicely.

Pennyhal 03-17-2014 09:40 AM

I'd go with the blue too. The green just doesn't coordinate well.

Lori S 03-17-2014 10:04 AM

I think the blue is a much better choice.

MadQuilter 03-17-2014 10:09 AM

YES! That is a great addition.

loisf 03-17-2014 10:56 AM

I think the blue looks lovely. Good selection. I tend strongly to modern quilts, but I think you have traditional blocks with traditional fabrics, so I would just go for it. This happened to me once too. I bought the fabric and then I thought, "Why did I get this. It looks like something my mom would have liked." But I finished the quilt, and it turned out just fine. It wasn't to my taste, but my wonderful neighbor loved it, so I gave it to her. She was thrilled.

barny 03-17-2014 10:59 AM

Oh, yes, much better together. I love it.

this was my initial thought, too

Knitette 03-17-2014 11:49 AM

The blue sashing is very chic - lovely!

AnnieSue 03-17-2014 11:53 AM

It fits the feel of the quilt perfectly. Good job.

I'm definitely getting a vintage feel, but its the style of vintage with turquoise, cream, and grey tones (the muted purple is reading a little grey to me) that I see a lot of young brides wanting for their wedding colors, so its traditional but in a very current way.

ManiacQuilter2 03-17-2014 01:43 PM

If that makes you happy, yes, I would go with the blue !!

Jeanne S 03-17-2014 01:45 PM

The blue is much better!

coopah 03-17-2014 05:19 PM

Way better!

alikat110 03-17-2014 05:28 PM

Great choice. ...

sewingsuz 03-17-2014 05:36 PM

It really changed it a lot. I like it better with the blue. Nice work.

Nanny's dollface 03-17-2014 05:38 PM

I prefer the blue as well. More soothing as someone else has commented . The blocks stand out on their own now without the distracting green color. Good job!

SouthPStitches 03-17-2014 06:31 PM

Looking good!

Oh yes I agree, you did not say how you felt about it. Usually when we question our first choice we really find the perfect choice second around. Glad you reconsidered before you sewed :)

I think it looks so much better than the green.

kyquiltlover1942 03-18-2014 03:28 AM

Good job, looks a lot better with the print. save that green to use with black.

margied 03-18-2014 03:38 AM

Really looks great with the blue!

scrapinmema 03-18-2014 04:02 AM

I like the blue.

callen 03-18-2014 04:39 AM

I find the blue sashing much more pleasing to the eye BUT remember, it is your quilt & you should do what YOU think is the best choice.

celwood 03-18-2014 04:43 AM

definitely the blue

quiltmom04 03-18-2014 04:47 AM

MUCH BETTER!! The blue makes the quilt much more cohesive - with a unified color theme. Looks great!

luvTooQuilt 03-18-2014 04:50 AM

First let me say its your quilt and if ya want green go for it!!!!

with that said, IMHO green was way over powering, the only thing my eye caught was teh green and not much else.. And the blue, it matches well and from my perspective from your pic it blends in a lil too much... too much blue...the actual blocks dont stand out, what about using the blue for sashing but add cornerstones to give it a lil umph.. or blocking the block perhaps... Again, your quilt your rules, just giving my two cents...

bigsister63 03-18-2014 05:05 AM

I like the blue better

Daisy Dew 03-18-2014 05:12 AM

it's blue for me too! what a difference it entirely took on a whole new look.
