No doubt about it, Wal-Mart's fabric department does have struggles with some of its customers! There's one near here, where you CANNOT take the fabric home, rolled back on the cardboard. That's because some customers would have the clerks at the cash registers ring up the whole bolt, at the price for ONE yard.

As to JoAnn's... I'd recommend asking, before you place that special order, how many yards they think they have in the warehouse. If it's less than 100, it's doubtful if the fabric is truly there at all. It's not just JoAnn's that has this "low inventory" issue... several of the manufacturers I work with have the same problem. The person on the phone taking the order does not know exactly what is left on the shelf in the warehouse. All they know is what the computer tells them. That's why the extra question about remaining yardage always needs to be asked. So, if stock is really low, you can wait on starting that important project until you actually have all the fabric in your hands.
