i have the small one that i use for trimming or cutting small blocks.

I have them and love them for trimming up tiny squares made from left-over triangles. The first cut kind of sticks them to the board and makes the other cuts quicker. Retired -- have more time than brains some days. Also like them for going to quilt guild work days -- light and small -- fit into the machine bag that I tote along on public transportation. Worth the money if you get them with a 50% cupon plus 20% off your total purchase at J's. Don't regret the purchase even though I only use at select times.

Hi, I'm new to this thread and from the UK.

I have a round revolving mat which is fabulous but they don't make them anymore and I have been wondering about
making my own.

My question is can anyone please tell me how you cut the rotary mat cleanly to fit, especially if I decide to make
a circular one as this is easier to revolve without it bashing into things.

Love mine.

I found it worth it especially if doing paper piecing or mini quilts.

I have one and I use it to trim blocks or smaller pieces of fabrics while sitting down. It won't ever take the place of my big cutting mat when I need to stand up and cut long or large pieces of fabrics but I am glad that I own one. I wouldn't call a rotating mat a "necessity" but rather a want.

I have the Brooklyn revolver, by Pat Yamin. It spins great and has a pressing mat on the reverse side. Very pricey but I love it.

If you're not in a rush, wait until there's a great sale! My husband gave me one for Christmas, but due to personal reasons, I haven't had a chance to use it yet... but I had it on my wish list because so many people here on the boards had raved about them.

I just picked up the 9" Brooklyn Revolver at a nearby quilt shop and I absolutely love it! It was exactly what I was looking for to use on my current projects. It works beautifully for cutting with my "La Passacaglia" English paper piecing templates and to use for marking around my applique templates too. I had passed on purchasing a pink 10" rotating mat by Sue Daley of Australia, because I didn't like the way it turned for the money. Someone wrote that the Brooklyn Revolver doesn't tip and they are right, it spins excellently and doesn't tip no matter where I press on it. It's very well made.

I hope anyone looking for something like this is able to find it. This is made of a light grey solid self-healing Omnimat on a turnable with 8 chrome ball bearings and 4 rubber feet. I highly recommend its well worth searching out. I hope it's still being made. Manufacturer is "Come Quilt with Me, Inc." out of Brooklyn, NY. Never heard of it till I found it in this thread so thank you and I wanted to report back. This will definitely be a 'go to' tool for me.
